Yes, but that was the case before Scott Park closed. There are also public elementary schools in the area, so there may not be a shorter-term need for that either. Whether there's need for a new secondary school in the future (and where) would need to be seen over the longer term, same with grades K-8.
I just hope they consider keeping this property for a public use or under public/HWDSB ownership, preferably as-is,
in case new school capacity is needed in future. Avoid the hassle that ensued when that Scott Park property had to be re-acquired not very long after it was sold. The MacDonald property is very likely to be sold for redevelopment and may fetch good money given the recent demand downtown, but I'd rather this one isn't.
Could Delta become a community centre? Host post-secondary education uses? Be leased out?
