As the east end demographics change, I have to wonder if a school on that site (no matter what grade) would make sense in the near future.

Plenty of small stuff in the city is worth mention (including the Arrival Inn just east of these be-yoots, in the foreground of that Google view) but in terms of prominent fugly uckers, I nominate both apartment buildings for a tie at #1.

I don't mind them actually - what I do mind however is that abomination of a 1-2 story hotel at the bottom left of the picture.

I've seen much uglier buildings but that hotel takes the cake.

They just built a high school up the street. Unless they build an elementary school there but that is one big lot for an elementary school.

Yes, but that was the case before Scott Park closed. There are also public elementary schools in the area, so there may not be a shorter-term need for that either. Whether there's need for a new secondary school in the future (and where) would need to be seen over the longer term, same with grades K-8.

I just hope they consider keeping this property for a public use or under public/HWDSB ownership, preferably as-is, in case new school capacity is needed in future. Avoid the hassle that ensued when that Scott Park property had to be re-acquired not very long after it was sold. The MacDonald property is very likely to be sold for redevelopment and may fetch good money given the recent demand downtown, but I'd rather this one isn't.

Could Delta become a community centre? Host post-secondary education uses? Be leased out?

So I was in toronto today and noticed the bay park centre building being built, and I must say, it is IMPRESSIVE looking - those giant diamond shapes in the glasswork really stand out and make it look expensive and luxurious - love to see some architecture like that in hamilton

came across the sun life building - originally known as the federal life building - while it still looks good today it was originally a bit grander looking - love to see the top go back on

Basically anything dark brown on that building is where they stripped all the detail off it - it would have originally been almost completely white. Also it's interesting to see the stone staining angle on the pigott building...



Seems the removal was a rather recent choice - anyone have any idea why these details were removed?

You can see it was still on when the pigott building was built:

Weird, I thought it was called CIBC Square... but I agree, it looks really sharp.
