Sorry for the delay in response... bit of vacation time. This will be an internal thing for the builder because they subbed it out to a contractor. It's not the purchasers that will be involved with legal affairs but rather the developer versus the contractor. I said profitable in regards to the sub trades that will be hired by Tarion in the end. Once it gets to that point it's priced at a premium time & material rate rather than lowest bidder per square foot and that's when any company involved makes some good money at the builders expense. Personally I think purchasers at Cathedral Hill will get good condos in the end but they will likely have to dig through some Gotham type affairs first. Just my opinion of course...

Which element of the construction does it involve? Flooring, windows, electrical, etc? Ive been in a number of units and rented out a couple - didn't notice an issue in them...

Wiling to bet those units are on lower floors Matt. I understand the issues are with the upper end of the building but as an agent perhaps ask to see some inventory units just to check on over all status of the build.

I came across the bridge for the first time since it has been finished, and thought it looked really good. It definitely changes that part of the skyline for the better (admittedly not a huge challenge).

Meh - given the iconic location they could've done much better. I don't whether Ottawa architects are just bland, or get cowed into timid designs. This looks like any condo building that could be found anywhere. Heck, even the new one behind City Hall would've looked better here.

Blech. I'm really hating this building, I think it belongs in the Ugly Ottawa thread. Awful mishmash of cladding materials and terrible integration of the heritage components. It's unfortunate that it is so prominent and that no other buildings will be blocking it in the future. I wish some other developer like Charlesfort had gotten this property instead.

It's my favourite condo building in the city...to each their own, I guess!

Someone living across the street told me the other day that the remaining unsold townhouses are going to be "reconfigured". I took that to me altered floor plans. True?

No idea. Are you talking about the sparks street towns or the heritage towns on queen?
In both cases the high condo fees probably discourage buyers who could get freehold in Westboro for a comparable price.

I was thinking of the Sparks St towns that have never sold. I don't know what the floor plans are like on the Queen St side, or whether they ever sold, but I've been told that Spark St ones are pretty bad.

I visited Christ Church Cathedral during Doors Open and I was amazed to discover that the church has a huge amount of space in the new development. They have a large community room, offices, washrooms, day camp for kids, and more in the new part. I didn't even know they were connected! It is really well done. My favourite part is the little courtyard garden between the old church and the new condo, it's a beautiful space.
