Meridian Plaza 2

https://www.edmonton.ca/residential_neig..._LDA17-0035_art_800x494_rdax_500x309.jpg

The proposal is for a building approximately 22 storeys in height, with commercial uses located at ground level facing 111 Street NW. This new tower will be attached to the entrance of the already existing Meridian I Tower to the immediate south.

True. I just don't think I would be buying a condo in Edmonton anytime soon. Nowhere for prices to go but down as more purpose-built rentals get built and condo investors sell off their properties.

I mean, look at Edmonton compared to other cities in Canada: https://doodles.mountainmath.ca/blog/2018/12/17/how-are-condos-used/

And 3-4 towers proposed by Edger and Westrich on 106th ST.

Interesting, as in gawky? Too many things thrown at the wall with that exterior. Almost Procura-esque.

Depends on the condo and what the owners are doing with it. Calgary and Edmonton look very much the same, but when you shift to more expensive markets (Tor and Van) it shouldn't be a surprise to see more people in condos b/c that's all they can afford.

The architect has done better work as we can see from the portfolio below in web link. This design is helter-skelter particularly the balcony’s. Looks like a 1950 high rise. Maybe too good an architect for this developer.

Comment on CBC Am this morning from the Ice District. They may be doing tours to the top in the future. You will have to walk up the last 2 stories though.

The way I interpreted that link from rapid is that a much higher amount of condo's in Edmonton and Calgary are rented out.

With the upcoming large amounts of purpose built rentals in the near future in these markets, the condo rental market will be decimated. If I was some random guy who picked up a few condo units ten or so years ago thinking renting them out would be a decent investment i would be shitting my pants.

Looks like the architectural drawings for the Windspear expansion have been uploaded to the City's DC2 webdocs:

https://webdocs.edmonton.ca/ZoningBylaw/DC2/!SSL!/WebHelp/DC2.1060_Appendices.pdf

There's also this interesting one for Little Italy. Not sure if I love it of hate it but it's good to see some investment in the area.

The whole market is down right now. There's a significant glut of condos and prices are falling but houses are dropping too. We're looking at a solid 1 owner 60's bungalow in Terrace Heights on a 50' sub-dividable lot that needs a full update but is well located for a rental, it looks like we're going to be able to get it for well under $250k. A little risky because I think the market's going to sink more yet but at that price I think it's a killer deal.

The prices on condos in the deep SW is insane. They can't give those things away right now. In the downtown/ Oliver area it looks like prices are back where they were at in 2004, lots of deals to be had.
