Stuff happens on every single project and it is dealt with. Large projects always have more issues because of the scale. The stadium tough was a complete mess with inexperienced people.

Seems here the issue is with steel. So is that ray wan issue or a supplier/engineering issue? Architects define the spaces and make them look good and stuff. Engineers design the thing.

haha. That's what every steel supplier would tell you about every job.

That's the standard fall back position.

The reality is on a project this big there will be details to get worked out along the way, and things missed. That's what contingencies are for.

Everyone, including the steel contractor/supplier gets to look through the drawings before they bid and commit to a job.

And whoever doesn't look close enough gives the low bid!

Besides the size of the 2nd image, this is a decent look at it

Any thoughts on how much each suite will cost to rent after it's finished?

True North Square seemed to go up without any issues (as far as I can recall). I believe that would be considered a large scale development by Winnipeg standards anyway.

I think part of the problem with the stadium is that it was rushed. They made the mistake of tearing down the old stadium and needed to rush completion of the new one. It would have made sense to play one more season in the old stadium to ensure the new one was built right.

It is probably related to whether the issues where "known by the public" or not. I think it's unlikely to guarantee that TNS experienced no trouble, likely every additional correction expense is only recorded on the company's book and later solved, and not told to the outsiders

And frankly I don't think whether TNS had issues or not would affect how 300 Main goes. And if that worker didn't told us about it, we'd probably never know or get to know much later

What did the birdie say?
Drawing issues or Steel Contractor issues?

So it's seeming to me like the 45 degree corners that were always there at the corner of Main and Graham and on the roof (where you can see the wod construction walls now) may form part of the outline of the building... are those part of the foundation?

They didn't tear down the old stadium til long after the Bombers moved. Don't you remember the big farewell season at CanadInns, then we actually played another season there after?

Contractors make a nice profit on change orders due to things that show up after the job has started and were not part of the plans.

Any major construction project has numerous change orders for the different sub trades. The steel work will just be the first of many.

Keep in mind that TNS was a cast-in-place concrete structure, and the contractor used their own forces to do the concrete work. Therefore an apples and oranges comparison to 300 Main.

Any "issues" (and there were many) at TNS would have been kept internal as there would be no subcontractors affected. Except maybe the rebar supplier, but they are used to making changes on the fly.

Basically the entire building has to be fabricated off site. There has to be very good communication between the fabricators and the builders.

"Damn, I cut the thing three times and it's still too short!"

From what I hear, there were many issues. You just don't see or hear about it because they were resolved. Maybe not major scheduling issue, but technical issues during the build.
