Brentwood is going to be another major retail hub, second only to Metrotown in the Lower Mainland in the near future. Can't wait to hear which department store will be taking over the big space. Simons? Hopefully we see a new foreign business coming in.

I don't think Gilmore will come out fancy, I think it will be more like Marine Gateway or Station Square. Maybe Walmart, DSW, Marshalls or something like that.

That's OK. The neighbourhood still needs to be served by mid-income stores. The Marine Gateway and New Westminster malls, even though small in scale and not fancy, nonetheless make the neighbourhood more liveable compared to before they were built. They also serve as anchor centres for other retailers and businesses to grow nearby.

If we get another Simons it would go to Brentwood over Gilmore Place. That's what I was trying to say.

Though it would be cool if Simons went into Gilmore Place - and the space would be ready before Phase 2 or 3 of Amazing Brentwood.

Not sure if we will be seeing more Simons expansion in the near future. With Norstrom getting creamed last quarter and Saks/HBC/Lord and Taylor getting beat up a lot of the shine is off the department store resurgence we saw over the last 5 years.

Height? Shown where? Just to be clear, Officedweller and I were discussing a future office tower for Amazing Brentwood, not Gilmore Place.

Yeah, the "dropped" reference was for Amazing Brentwood,
but the only office tower with a height mentioned (34 storeys) was for Gilmore Place.

It's several months since they cleared the site, but excavation hasn't yet commenced. Slow progress.

some activity, too far away but there is new I don't know what do you call it?Fencing, hoarding? along the sidewalk.

Also the two white buildings just to the east of the station are now fenced off and look like they are starting to be demolished.

With such a slow progress, I don't think this project is selling very well. I would also avoid buying in the floodplains.

If West Bank is a Cheetah then Onni must be a tortoise of Vancouver developers. Although Onni when it does get up to speed it does move based on some of there past projects.

I imagine that, when completed, going along the skytrain here at Gilmore Station will feel very similar to Metrotown Station with the many towers along Beresford.

But let's not forget that Metrotown took a long time to develop the critical mass for the buildings and the people/foot traffic it now has that gives it that feel.

There's also the fact that you have Metropolis Mall and the Bus Loop which are two major draw factors for people stopping by there or passing through - both of which will only increase when more of those towers on Beresford's tower row get completed and the Concord Sears project gets off the ground.

I doubt even given enough time, that Gilmore Place (or even Brentwood for that matter) will ever be able to match that.

There are currently 15 cranes in Brentwood. More cranes will pop up once Gilmore project starts. Also some towers have already dismantled cranes but not yet finished. From my personal observation Brentwood is developing fasten then Metrotown.
