Indeed. This is still a pretty good time to live in Regina.

Despite all the growth we've had, the two places I have lived in my life at the edge of the city (Bowman Avenue near Courtney St., mid-'80s and Dalgliesh Drive and Courtney St., '89-'92) are still at the edge of the city. (The city has hopped Courtney at Dewdney only on the south side of Dewdney, and the only development along Courtney St. off Dalgliesh has been to finally build the southbound lanes of Courtney St.)

I've been sitting at Pearson bored all morning so I crunched the numbers.

Regina grew by 12,000 people from July 1 2016 to July 1 2018. That's more than any two year before prior to 2008.

Despite being downturn we're still beating every boom period from last century.

Just find it so disappointing that Regina doesn’t even have one downtown building proposal. Not even a 4 or 5 Storey mixed use residential/office/commercial.

I wish that 4 Storey proposal that would have been across from Connaught school could be reproposed for downtown.

Would be interesting to see if such a facility could operate without public funding.
I would hope not. If it is going to be privately owned and operated, then do it. don't pull a we-want-these-facilities-but-the-city-has-to-help-fund-bc-we-didn't know how expensive it would be. Did it have to go to the city for zoming approval?

2101 Scarth used to be Affinity Credit Union according to Google street view. Did Affinity move to the park/UofR extension?

Sask Power's building on Vic is such an interesting building. I'm glad they are renovating it. Costly, but needs to be done.

$120 million to renovate a 12 storey building. Wow. That has got to be more than building new.

Affinity is just one tenant in the Financial Building. It is a multi-tenant building with several government tenants.

Dream took a massive bath on this one:

The former Casa Italia and Fun House buildings on the 18 block Broad have construction fences. I assume they are coming down. Casa Italia was damaged in the Traveller's Building fire.

More empty lots. What's left on that block? Just the building with Money Mart at one end and the salon at the other end?

Dream took a bath because there are no government tenants. The building is mostly empty.

Capital Pointe is up for sale for $8.5M. I don't know who would want it with the economy where it is, but I guess it doesn't have to be built on yet.

Was dreaming about how great it would be for either:

Hill Tower IV above Novik Cafe across from Victoria Park having part Office from Harvard Developments and then Half as an ALT Hotel with main floor restaurant.

OR

Capital Pointe Spot with half ALT Hotel and then Residential developed by another developer.

*can you tell I am hoping for ALT Hotels to finally announce their Regina hotel?
