Static load testing
[this is to the best of my knowledge, corrections clarifications, and suggestions appreciated.]
[If you have questions about UNIX I can answer those authoritatively ]
There are 2 columns of 4 piles each - with a pair of big red beams across the top, this is the "static" part.
The pile in the middle, the test subject, has a 1000 ton hydraulic jack on the top which pushes against the big read beam, pushing (loading) the test pile and driving it further into the ground.
Measure how far it is pushed with the specified load.
