I think the opposite. People Who have an alley behind their household should be taxed extra. So what if they’ve been there for decades, they still cost money to maintain.

I don't think it is about that, actually. The real issue with alleys is that they are a complete additional waste of space in Calgary's inner sprawl neighbourhoods. We're concerned about inefficient use of space in this city, and large lots with small houses plus an alley in the back just don't make sense. We love the planet.

Lack of street parking? Lol, did you even look at the pictures that were posted before making that remark?

Go back and re-read the previous posts. The discussion isn’t about whether you like the looks of the front facing garages or not, it’s the fact that the alleyways are a waste of space. And in case you’re unaware, they are a waste of space.

I'm with Rollerstud98 on this one. Seeing a million recycling bins line the streets or worse seeing them scattered all over the place is reason enough to have alleys. Having a physical break separating properties is a huge benefit. Giving first responders another way to reach you is also a benefit. Alleys also give you more privacy.

I don’t mind alleyways, they’re a great place to pile crap, and yeah they give you more separation from your neighbours across the way, but they don’t give you more privacy. They actually give you less privacy, anyone can walk through the alley in pier over into your yard and spy on you.
