Nice ride my guy. I personally would change the rims though even if they are meant to be more efficient.

Can I ask what kind of range you’ve been getting? And how did you find the fit and finish?

PS welcome to the blue car club!

Range has been good, I honestly haven't been keeping close track of it. I'm at 10,000 kms and still getting almost the advertised 499kms on a full charge when I do it (which is rare). Some range impact as we get cooler weather for sure.

Having an EV, especially with a bigger battery, you charge it more like a phone. I rarely let it get down below ~20%. It floats a lot between 40-80%. Charge when I can for a few hours, etc, unless I'm heading out on a big trip. As compared to a gas car where it's common to go from 10-100% each time. I should note I live in a condo without charging at home (yet). If you had a garage to park in at a house, that would be the ultimate.

Fit and Finish is fine for me. I come from a Toyota, so I don't know how it compares to a BMW 3 or similar, which it is meant too. The faux leather is great (better than real IMO for maintenance and having small kids). I had one minor issue with something mechanical which was resolved quickly at the service center.

Blue was my wife's choice. I like it, wouldn't be my first pick though

I took a car2go the other day. I hadn't driven a gas car in 4-5 months. It's godawful. Once you get an EV (any model I would think), you'll never go back.

Thanks good to know. It will be interesting to see how fast older condos upgrade to offer charging. I wonder what the average cost for such a building upgrade would be? They're going to have to to be competitive on the resale market.

Most buildings are going forward with some kind of shared charging for residents, that's what we are doing. I live in a ~2yr old building. Worth noting that the BC government incentive program for multi-unit charging is over subscribed every year. The pace of strata decision making is slow too.

The price is not that bad, especially for a "permanent" amenity. The concern is more around people who want charging in their own spot. Most buildings, especially new ones, have electrical vault capacity for a number of owners to get "private" charging, but not every spot. So is it fair to allow the first 50% of residents to get this at a cheaper price, then who pays for potentially expensive electrical room upgrades in the future for the next 50%? No easy answer.

Does the strata only charge a one time installation cost or is there an additional annual charge/the electric usage is monitored and billed accordingly?

I know some stratas are going to either of those billing methods while some remain free (at least included in the strata fees)

Too long to wait for condo strata to install charging units for residence. I think that is one of the factors stopping me from trying to get an EV. Without the critical mass from owners with EVs, I don't think Stratas are going to budge or initiate anything, and hence it becomes a chicken and an egg problem.

Talked to Jerry Kroll of Meccanica before, and he was telling me that he wanted to try getting the City to install a new type of streetside parking meters that include individual charging stations. That would be great for owners who don't get charging stations in their condos. After a certain time at night, EV owners can just park their cars out on the streets to be charged. So far haven't heard anything from the green-washed City, planners only seem to implement green ideas halfheartedly.

Adding to this thread which I just saw

Unfortunately, I can't afford a car nor do I need one so I just drive my mum's when I'm back in town which is your typical asian mom's car albeit with some extra oomph

Nice to drive and parks surprisingly well/turning radius is quite sharp for a vehicle of its length; however for practicality's sake, 664lb/ft of torque on a rwd vehicle is unnecessary

Too bad it's so not environmentally friendly and the fuel economy is abysmal - you average 22 l/100km on light footed city driving but that's expected; her diesel suv gets half that and it's the same weight with a much inferior coefficient of drag

Not sure about Vancouver, but a lot of municipalities (New West, Burnaby, Poco, Richmond, Pomo, Surrey, Langley, Maple Ridge, Coquitlam...) have already moved or are moving to mandate charging infrastructure in all new builds. Won't directly impact previous builds, but in the sense of competing for occupants and setting market expectations, will put more pressure on them, and may hatch a few of those eggs.

There's usually an ongoing fee. However anything related to billing per kWh or per hour has ongoing monitoring costs. As in, the monitoring itself far exceeds the actual value of the electricity, and it's not worth doing, unless you're installing dozens of chargers.

You can use some average values and calculate approximately what an EV would use over the course of a month or year, add an amount to cover the initial capital cost, and call it a day. That's our plan.

New West is already doing that, Vancouver is behind, yes. Their EV strategy is a bit weak, the rollout is slow, and they've already changed their billing setup multiple times (free with parking, additional charge, all paid through charger, then mixed to parking lot and charger, etc.)

That said, BC Hydro's Level 3 chargers are great, and more are being deployed in 2019. They are free, which is awesome.

After a three-month wait, our brand new 2021 BMW X3M Competion arrived few weeks ago and what a beast of a car it is!

For exterior color we chose Donnigton Gray which is a classic M color.

I just love the styling of the 21" wheels that come with the Competition package. It's a somewhat harsh ride with these, but what can you expect from a M car?

We ordered our car with the top of the line Competition package which produces 510 PS. Sound of the engine and the sports exhaust is just divine and performance is just ridiculous.

I am really happy with the beautiful two-tone interior that is both comfortable and looks really sharp!

Naturally, we wanted to have all the latest technology that the iDrive 7 in the model year 2021 provides.

The space-age key is mostly a showpiece but the remote functions are also rather practical.
