Was also about the chime in that I saw trains in the snow. Had to run to Confederation Heights for a work meeting, so ended up going home on Trillium and transferred at Bayview. In the few minutes I was there, I saw a total of 3 trains (2 westbound and 1 eastbound)... this was around 5:30pm, when it was snowing quite heavy.

In an unrelated note, with them running so many trains these days it's interesting to see the countdown clocks really in action. I've noticed unlike other cities I've been to, ours report in half minute increments (e.g 3 min, 2.5 min, 2 min) etc.

Nice! That's actually going to make a pretty significant difference. Minute increments can feel like forever.

Just to pretend I'm a CBC reporter... I can honestly say that I have yet to see a SINGLE train... and I drive past the tracks maybe a 1/2 dozen times per week, albeit mostly on weekends.

I saw my first double train today... pulling in and out of Bayview. They really are quite a large train when you see them in person.

I think we aren't giving enough credit here. Most people's experience in Ottawa is going to be comparing our stations to the public washroom-like stations they've been to in places like Toronto and NYC. Lyon is definitely not one of the world's most beautiful stations, but it's far from terrible.

They are still a rare bird. If you sit at Hurdman for 15 minutes on weekday there's a good chance you'll see one, but it seems like it's about 1 of every 5 trains going by that's a double

I drive by the tracks between Blair and St-Laurent twice a day, nearly everyday of the week. I generally never see trains on weekends or weekday mornings however, I see multiple trains (mostly singles) during the evening rush-hour.

That's true. I'd say Lyon and Parliament are better versions of the old stock Toronto and New York subway stations while Rideau is a step above Vancouver's Canada Line. Our stations are also superior to most of what we see in London's Underground.

Saw a dirty double travel all the way from Hurdman and then over Riverside Drive/Vanier Parkway this morning

Literally, dirty. As in, the roof of the train was a streaky grey colour. Could it be the oxidization products getting knocked off the caternary?

Good reason for why they should have gone with more red. They say that it's "easier to maintain", but trains will need to be washed more frequently because dirt and grime will be so much more visible. Unless you don't give a damn about impressions.

I hope they change the design of Stage 2 trains to better reflect the new branding, but I know that won't happen.

Testing the trains is more than just running them up and down the tracks. A big part of the testing is operational testing to start up the system in the morning, shut it down at night and to change the flow of trains to match the changes in frequency at different points in the day. It is not just the trains that have to be tested, but the switch and signal changes required to adjust the frequency. They could also be operational plans to handle certain scenarios such as mechanical. fire and passenger situations. This is probably why you don't see trains running all day long. I was at Tremblay on Monday and saw 5 trains in about 15 minutes travelling in both directions, some of them single units, some of double units. Have a little bit of patience with RTG. They are not just running a model train around in a circle.

I live at Cyrville. My window overlooks the tracks. I know Ms. Chianello was off because I saw double trains before that report. And I see testing virtually everyday.
