The Namerind Building is officially delayed. It won't be ready for 2020. I'm not sure anyone is surprised.

Yeah, I am surprised. I thought this project was dead. I am also surprised that they have already invested 9 million dollars into this project. Would that be for the land and design fees so far?

No, they're just giving up ownership of the building and the lease on the land. It's a hand-back to the government with no penalty. They will continue to operate out of the same building and lease space from the province.

One of the requirements for federal status is that the museum in question must own its collection. In the case of the Heritage Centre, the collection is owned by the RCMP.

No disrespect to Namerind but this has a familiar feel to it. I understand that development takes time and deadlines are often pushed back but this is starting to seem like a pipe dream

does anything really ever get built in Regina anymore?

I'd really just like to see one new iconic tower tbh.. everything has just stalled there.

There is an oversupply of office space, condos and hotels and the government is trying to balance the budget this year so no, nothing is getting built other than some low rise buildings.

Likely that and the site clearing they did, i.e. tearing down the Sask Education building and digging down to completely remove the foundation before backfilling.

And Regina is a city of 230,000... There's never going to be a steady stream of major tower projects.

The economy is as bad here right now as it's ever been. I think the early-mid 90s were similar around here. I remember I had to move to Vancouver to get work back when I was in construction. I know people in the trades right now that haven't worked in a year. It's actually quite depressing.

I'm just happy when anything gets built at this point whether it's a rebuild of something in the park or a new chain restaurant.

Is Capital Pointe dead?.. I'm assuming its just a hole in the ground. I was so optimistic about that project.

There's absolutely not an oversupply of new downtown condos.

At the current price points there are. There are still unsold units in Gardens on Rose, Centre Square, and Canterbury. In terms of general inventory across Regina, there's an even worse oversupply.
