I put this in The Post Thread, but I'll also put it here. Looks like Wall is putting forward a 23 story office tower on the site of the Holy Rosary Cathedral rectory. If memory serves, that footprint is pretty small. It will include restoration fo the cathedral:

Nice, thanks.

Good to see a blank party wall on the north side abutting to the adjacent site
- so no future issues about separation or overlook.
This angle is noticeably absent from the perspectives renderings and only shown on the elevations.

Fairly large floorplates for a cramped site.

The first five floors of the commercial tower will provide 36,000 square feet of new activity space for the church.

On top of this will be 18 floors of commercial space of about 194,000 square feet.

Public Hearing – February 20th, 2019

First and Only Item – 1636 Clark Drive and 1321-1395 East 1st Avenue

Imagine there was a proposal to slow the deaths from Vancouver’s opioid crises, to bring families in off the street at rents they could afford, and it all complied with the neighbourhood plan. How could anyone oppose something that even the Vancouver Police Department says poses no threat to the community?

Unfortunately, it turns out a lot of people can. Since it was first announced, there have been fund-raising efforts not to help homelessness, but to ensure this answer is located somewhere else. What started with a small group, led to a leaflet campaign, multiple meetings with BC Housing, and now a self-appointed area council has taken up the charge to oppose these life-saving services on the edge of their neighbourhood.

Backlash Expectations

Neither Hannah nor I are saying these people are monsters, cold-hearted, or even selfish. Honestly, despite their fierce opposition, most seem to have been rather civil. Of course, there are professionals who have chosen to act otherwise, promising legal action if democracy does not result in their chosen result.

Needless to say, we expect the backlash at this meeting to be high, but it doesn’t represent the public at large. After all, over 120 people have said they support these services at this location, while only 74 expressed concern. Still, those who turn out to this public hearing have the best chance to influence city council at the last minute. Though, according to members of that aforementioned neighbourhood group, commitments have already been made by some city councillors to reject the proposal.
Your post triggered me to write a letter of support - the first time I've actually done so. Let's hope it gets approved!

Sorry for the bump. Just listening a little into the hearing and damn is it contentious. Lots of people emailing in their support ahead of time however.

Ok you got your SW corner of 2nd Ave & Main St

Current status of NE 4th Ave & Main St. Daily Hive says "Port Living is proposing to build a second arts-themed mixed-use development on the Main Street corridor in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant District."

Don't confuse garage at 4th and Main with this similar looking one at 5th & Main

WeWork on Main between 4th and 5th Ave.

SE Corner 5th and Main St (Elenore on Fifth) is above ground level now.

Thanks for the pics.

Tons of stuff going on in the area, and you didn't even update the 2 projects at 2nd and Main.

When is the last time that building with the faded green paint was occupied? Especially the one above the streetfront retail building. I have been curious about that building for years. A tempting urban exploration site...

It's about time with some of these, I was thinking some of these Main st. slope proposals would never get off the ground as they look better than most of Olympic Village nearby. I hope they turn out nice.

Secured market rental apartments planned at Fraser Street and East 19th
FEBRUARY 24, 2019 BY PETER MEISZNER

The new building, designed by Yamamoto Architecture Inc., will replace a two-storey commercial building and a surface parking lot.

It will contain 104 secured market rental apartment units, including five three-bedroom townhouse units along the lane west of Fraser Street; six three-bedroom units, 28 two-bedroom units, 32 one-bedroom units and 33 studios.

The building also includes eight commercial retail units fronting onto Fraser Street. The developer says parking will be provided to allow for one or several restaurants totalling 4,000 square feet, and retail units can be combined should a tenant need a larger space.

The design is characterized by a simple, four-storey street wall along Fraser Street that wraps around the southeastern corner of the site. The four-storey base incorporates masonry cladding, punched windows, and is animated by a pattern of balconies varying in depth. The top two floors are stepped back from the four-storey base, minimizing shadowing on the neighbourhood.
