The Original version "A" seems like the better of the designs. Maybe a "C" is in the works ?

Wait is this actually a new design alternative or is the staggering OG one what is being planned as of now?

Absolutely outrageous.
I'm guessing their analysts designed it that way based on demand. Hopefully they will build those levels so that they can be converted to living quarters one day....similar to a building up in Seattle.

That's the former Gas Company Tower, which is misplaced in the rendering: the real building is on 5th and Olive, which would be out of the picture to the right (significantly) in that rendering. They've taken some liberties with the background, including several other Bunker Hill towers that shouldn't be there either.

I bet they changed the design to allow for larger floor plates and higher end units. From what I've heard, the lower end units at Metropolis languish on the market the longest.

I noticed that too. I kept trying to make the buildings "fit", and finally concluded that they photoshopped all the buildings around like chess pieces. Why? I don't know. And Wilshire Grand isn't even visible in the renderings. The oddest ommision several years ago was in the renderings for Wilshire Grand itself. They never had Library Tower (U.S. Bank) in the backround, even when it should have been visible from some of the angles, or they hid it behind other buildings. It was as if it did not exist. I guess they wanted no competition for #1 height status.

Just imagine Hollywood with about 15 more towers with 20+ floors each or over 300 feet, not that all the proposals will come to fruition, but that's how many are on the drawing board.

I like Wilshire Grand, but pretty clear from this distance that Library Tower (US Bank) is still numero uno in height (and certainly in functional height--highest floor). That skinny spire on WG is barely visible from this distance in daytime (more visible at night). L.A. needs a 1200'+ tower so there is no doubt. In WG's defense, it is built on a slightly lower (off Bunker Hill) parcel, so that it appears to be shorter than it actually is in comparison to US Bank (while it sits at the base of Bunker Hill, is still a bit higher in base elevation than WG). In any event, the highest actual floor of USB is almost 100' above that of WG.

Really? I feel like Wilshire Grand's spire is more visible in the daytime (the entire spire is white so it's pretty easy to see across the basin on a clear day) and I still have terrible eye vision lol and is less visible at night because it isn't fully lit. One has to be in the downtown area to see the bottom segment of the spire reflected by the LED lights from the "fins" of the WG. However, the red flickering light atop the tower can be seen across the basin.

New Update on Fig Centre via Urbanize LA...with new renders!

https://urbanize.la/post/new-angles-66-story-figueroa-centre-development

New Angles of the 66-Story Figueroa Centre Development

Quote:
The project, slated for a nearly two-acre property at 911-927 S. Figueroa Street, calls for the construction of a 66-story building containing 220 hotel rooms, 200 condominiums, and 94,000 square feet of ancillary uses, including shops, restaurants, meeting and event space, a school, and 583 parking spaces within a nine-level podium. The proposed development's hotel component would occupy 17 floors atop the podium, while the condominiums would occupy the uppermost 35 floors of the building.

CallisonRTKL is designing Figueroa Centre, which is portrayed as a modern glass and steel tower with an architectural peak of 975 feet above ground level. The building, which would be the third tallest in Los Angeles if completed today, would greet passersby along Figueroa with a glass atrium and outdoor seating. The project would include shared amenities for residents and hotel guests, such as a pool, lounge areas, gardens, a spa, and a fitness center.

Developer Regalian, LLC, pending approvals by the City of Los Angeles, is anticipating breaking ground on Figueroa Centre in 2020 and completing the project in 2023, according to an environmental report published last year.
This is still my favorite proposal right now. Its sleek design, location and purpose also feel the most realistic right now. Id prefer more hotel space even, as that is still in high demand.

Great shots, Hunter! Plaza Cultura is really coming along. Gonna totally change that area. I really hope the 26-story hotel/residential tower by Jeanne Gang comes to fruition.

Interesting to see the Ferrante lot cleared and how prominent it is from the North. Too bad they weren't way more creative and opted to go with a mix of housing types around some open space instead.
