However, you do not need to explain why you insist on pushing your grandiose, nitpicked, unwarranted claims on Calgary on everyone here. It's honestly quite annoying.
Everyday, Calgary is a different something. One day it's the first city in the whole world to use wind power to propel it's trains, then it's the city with the tallest skyscraper outside Toronto, then it's the biggest city outside the big three, and then you top it off by saying it's Canada's design city, adding a cherry on top saying it's attracted the most big firms in the Western Hemisphere.
Let me tell you what Calgary is. A rising western city, with a strong economy and average culture, and some interesting architecture. It has witnessed a huge boom because of the oil industry that ruins our country's environment which, yes, left it with a great business community and tall skyscrapers. It's not an international hotbed, not a design city, not an education hub, not a cultural or touristic destination. Not yet anyway. It is amongst the Minneapolises and Austins of this continent, a second-tier major city. Gladly for Calgary, it is doing better than these guys and is establishing itself as a clear leader in that group of cities.
I'm truly happy to see that most Canadian cities, including Calgary, are doing fine in developing their urban realm and transportation networks. I truly am. But I am sick and tired of reading the rubbish you write about Calgary being grandiose, and how much you read about architecture so you would know how truly great it is. Guess what, most of us do.
Maybe people would take you more seriously if you stuck to posting Calgary projects and proposals without the grandiose, empty claims. It's insulting quite frankly... A reality check is in order.
