S19 is looking pretty good in both Transborder and International.

The SLC mainline looks like it goes all the way out to December. Curious to see if only remains seasonal or if DL wil maintain it year-round similar to MSP.

As for SFO, there's quite a capacity increase in general. With WS adding a second daily for a total of 6 daily flights between the three carriers.

Looks that way. As it stands now anyway.

Glad to see a return of SLC to mainline, it's been quite some time since we have seen that if my recollections are correct. It's also interesting to see the large difference in UA service from YYC compared to YEG. Other than Houston (logical) it is something that has always somewhat baffled me. We see this difference between the two airports with all three major US airlines but UA seems to have the largest difference.

That PE is selling so well is the reason why AA, UA, and DL are all getting into the game.
That makes a lot of sense. Thanks again for your always informative posts!

Yes, it's been ages since YYC-SLC has seen mainline.

And DL... they are dropping YEG-SEA. DL will have 8 daily flights from YYC next summer (4 on mainline). YEG will have 2 daily 717s to MSP.

My guess is because YYC is a smallish AC hub, whereas YEG is not... UA is a *A partner. Despite being close in population, YEG has half of YYC's traffic. And despite being closer in population to YYC than YEG, YOW has half of YEG's passenger traffic (25% of YYC's).

For a myriad of reasons, Edmonton is just a lower yielding market. Starting of course with not having Banff nearby.

Actually the spread for AA is huge too. AS is the only one that’s close between the two.

UA YYC 11 YEG 3
DL YYC 8 YEG 2
AA YYC 4 YEG 0 (YEG does have 1 daily to PHX in winter)
AS YYC 3 YEG 2

Frontier still flirting with YYC but doesn’t seem to be making any ground.

As for Canadian carriers well....

AC is really the only carrier that has been stagnant / reducing transborder at YYC.

Has WS reduced flights to SAN, DEN and BNA this summer though?

AC introduced NEW Mainline service to both Palm Springs and Phoenix last year.

Actually these are just resumed mainline routes. PHX has been on and off mainline rouge express forever. PSP was a former daily mainline route too.

Just an overall pattern over the last few years... slowly winding back.

I don't think WS full summer schedule has been released yet. I suspect BNA might get bumped to 5x weekly like last summer.

Small bump, Flair adds YYC-YLW service this summer four times a week. Not sure how they expect to make inroads against WS or AC.

F9 needs to get its act in gear. Stop flying so many routes and consolidate to offer some decent service. 2x a week doesn't cut it, esp. late night arrivals in DEN precluding any connections. That makes the route good for DEN only and there's already lots of choice.

I noticed yesterday that the Chick Fil A is gone and the place is boarded up. Have they left the airport or moved to another airport location?

As it stands now, currently closed for good. But I guess they could in the future open a different location in the airport. Swiss Chalet in the food court also closed as well.

^ The exodus continues
I really hope the airport finds a way to correct itself out of all this hoarding and boarding mess. I'm sure all that revenue lost from so many vacant spaces will in some way or form translate to higher cost for users like us either with more AIF or parking increases. I'm actually just waiting for that to happen. PUblic opinion of the current facilities might have taken a dive too.

A long time ago YYC marketed itself as a local shopping destination and I think there was some success to it since a few stores there did not exist in mainstream malls. That was when YYC was just topping past 10million pax a year, now at almost 17 it should mean more opportunities to cash in, They really need to hire a smart architect to completely reconfigure the space planning at groundside to better integrate with the passenger trends that are happening now. Personally, I would put in a winter garden smack dab in the middle where the desertion is the worst.

Routes USA: It is good to see some routes like SLC coming back mainline.. Boy I remember flying on the Delta 727-224s back in the 1990s and i think that might of even been the final year so a long long time coming.
It would also be nice if there are some US arrivals in the morning hrs, the first flights always land around 1130-noon, so if there is a market out there for O/D-Connection within our country or onwards Int'l connection incl. sun destinations, It would be a good boost. Obviously many of these would depart there 6-7am. The new terminal despite my own gripes earlier which is mostly to do with its design, it does function very well and offers an improved experience compared to the current facilities. In a 1000km radius YYC would be a crowning jewel compared to the likes of SEA and PDX not to mention all the congestion and delays a busy and crammed airport will have. If some arrangements can be done to make it easy enough for Americans living close to the AB border to hop on an hr flight to YYC, bypass customs and just transit over within the terminal to a connecting canadian partner airline to head to Mexico or someplace, I think potentially the time savings may rival or improve upon the hassles of dealing with a ultra busy airport that is becoming more and more strained in infrastructure. Maybe a bit of payback for all the Canadians being lured to go across the border to use secondary airports on ULCCs..

I also have not seen any Winter charters in a while. These used to have the likes of Monarch/Air Tours combo back in the day and the traffic moving through to the mountains were quite impressive. Almost 500 pax twice a week from Dec-Mar, not too damn bad at all! Get them away from overcrowded european resorts and come over to the rockies!

The days of YYC being a shopping destination are long over, not just with yyc, it's happening at airports everywhere. Nobody waits around in the pre-check in area anymore. Overall, there are twice as many retail outlets as there were when the airport was at 10Million PAX, they just aren't in the pre-check in area.

Post check in you have a captive audience, and that's where the spending happens. Putting money into the pre-check in areas is a waste.

WS summer changes:

DEN - 4x Weekly (Overall decrease from S18) Op days: 2457
IAH - Increased to 13x Weekly (I don't remember if they had Sat flights last year)
YQB - 4x Weekly, now timed for transborder connections
YYZ - 789 Service extended into summer months (WS 658/651)
BNA - 3x Weekly (Overall decrease from S18, 5x weekly)

WS80/81 no longer shows as a thru flight, only YHZ-CDG-YHZ.

There's probably more, but I'll check again later.

Edit: According to this: https://www.airliners.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1414093 Also adding AUS & PDX?
