Is this private space or open to the public?

Private, but I'm pretty sure they offer tours. The main detractor for the building is that the sky gardens were proposed as public space, and ended up being private. This developer fucked Calgary hard. They also demolished the historic York Hotel under the guise of its immediate reconstruction as part of the phase 2 mixed use building. 10 years since the demolition and all we've got is some shithole wooden bench park in the middle of downtown.

Telus Sky will be either #1 or #2 in Calgary for highrises, but I didn't mention it as I was talking about office towers specifically. Telus sky is without a doubt my favourite mixed use building in the whole country right now (unless Vancouver House is also mixed use).

This was what I was most excited about with the design that got axed. The sky gardens with pods running all the way up the tower. It would have been one giant vertical greenhouse. Love what was built but disappointed they didn't follow through with this plan. I suppose the wanted to maximize floor space seeing as the shape of the tower is a very inefficient layout for offices as is the complaint at Toronto City Hall.

My guess is it's taken from the pond on Prince's Island Park.

That looks like the Beaver Pond on the east side of Prince's Island, so I would say no.
