Thanks... yes, green roof, across the street from both Pace and Dundas Square Gardens, kitty-corner from the Grid.

Wellington West Lofts near downtown Ottawa, between Tunney's Station and Wellington Street West, one of our urban main streets.

I prefer an elevation closer to the action than one staring at rooftops. Don't fall for the CN tourist trap. Make a reservation at the restaurant. Avoid the lines, have some grub for the additional price of any drinks you purchase.

Wellington Lofts looks great. What's the new proposal for the NW corner of Dundas & Jarvis? Haven't been able to find any info on it.

90 Queen Street East. Tower looks great; heritage facade podium not so much.

Couple other Ottawa proposals.

This one is at 440 Bronson Avenue, about a kilometer south of Downtown.

Answered my own question here - 41-storey, Henning Larson-designed tower for Ryerson, with 11 stories of academic use and the rest to be student residences:

Completely agree with you. Wish there was a continuation of the precast/punched windows down to the street. The Queen Street side could be terraced on the 4rd-8th levels to take maximum advantage of the sunlight. To allow for this kind of pleasant multi-level sun-bathed atrium experience with offices/shops etc on the Queen Street side , the tower should be shifted about 10-15 meters to the northwest.

Tower has the potential to look great but, this is far from great. The massing is unattractive and the diminutive stepbacks facing south do nothing to diminish it's fat rump. This is a vain attempt at disguising an investor grab as something more. The facade has some elegance but, it's so simple that you have to get the proportions right. No doubt many of those punched windows with be fake, spandrel glass should this be built. To keep it honest requires design sophistication which doesn't exist anywhere in the rendering.

I think it would look better without any setbacks at all. Yes it would be a bit thick and stubby, but not to the clean simplicity of the design would make up for it.

What would look best is if it was just a bit slimmer. Maybe if the lower levels had the same area as the top floors.

Two new proposals for the Zibi Development on our former pulp and paper industrial lands. These are the Chaudière Islands straddling the Ottawa-Gatineau border. The development is a partnership between Ottawa's Windmill Developments and Toronto's Dream Development (Distillery District).

These proposals are next to one another on Booth Street. The three buildings (one of which is u/c) take up about a quarter of Chaudière Island.

Couple more from Zibi.

New office building on the Ottawa side, Booth Street, across from the two proposals posted above.

This will truly be a transformational project for Downtown Ottawa-Gatineau.

When complete, it will add 1,200 residential units; 74,000 square feet of retail; over 100,000 square feet of office space. The area is 37 acres, 13 in Ottawa and 24 in Gatineau. 20% will be open space.

I agree it would be better without the setbacks as their narrowness emphasizes the tower's girth. Qlso agree the intermediate floors are as much an afterthought as the inclusion of the facades.
