It's no longer Hydro Quebec, the whole dam (the whole dam thing) is now owned by Energy Ottawa, and the electricity from it will be going to Ottawa, not Gatineau. I think they are completely redoing and modernizing the power generation plant similar to what was done on the Ontario side. Hopefully it also results in improved public access on that side since most of the new mechanicals are below ground.

Bummer. That piece of wasteland could've become a nice public space not to mention improved pedestrian and cycling access.

O is 82% sold. Was given a tour of the units and they have some pretty stunning views. Pricing is averaging $477-550sqft for the one beds, and $505-575sqft for the two beds. Worth it to head over and check out the views.

Kanaal is 89% sold and as "zzptichka" mentioned is at ground level. They are expecting the roof to be poured by February, with occupancy starting around November.

More renderings. This time from the Dream Office website. https://dreamoffice.findspace.com/buildi...a-Gatineau&SuiteType=OFFICE#tab_fs-media

I'm getting even more excited about this project.

That first one is way out of the box for Ottawa. Just Wow!

The industrial look of the second one would be out of place anywhere else, but it's a good fit here. Nice to see a good area of Chaudière Island will be filled up within the next few years.

Couple more from Zibi.

New office building on the Ottawa side, Booth Street, across from the two proposals posted above. We've seen it before.

More of that first residential building posted by kevinbottawa.

Restoration of industrial buildings on the Gatineau/Hull side, Eddy Street.

Can't wait to see what they do to this building assuming they are going to preserve it. With some TLC and some lighting it could become a gem.

Does anyone know any history behind it?

The Booth Broad Mill, built in 1912. Closed since 1980. They hope to preserve it and re-purpose as a hotel, but it's in quite a rough shape, so no guarantee.

Proposed.

At its peak.

Awesome. Thanks.

Judging by their master plan it's scheduled to be rebuilt in Phase 5. And we are barely into Phase 1 :\
Why not build it sooner? If it's a hotel you don't really need to pace residential market like that.

I agree; since the condition is critical, they should at the very least stabilize the building sooner rather than later. It's also much easier, theoretically, to find a hotel partner than sell a few dozen+ residential units.

My theory of why they've pushed it back so far down the line would revolve around finances. They probably need the capital in order to fund the restoration.

Those renderings looks fantastic. If the real thing turns out like that then this will be a highlight real project.

I also hope they get started on the Booth Broad Mill ASAP. So much potential there but I wouldn't be surprised if they couldn't save it given the condition.

While it's been a huge shitshow with lebreton, its good to see this project not only undergoing construction but have an actual plan and vision that will be a benefit to both Ottawa and Gatineau.

It's the Booth Board Mill. They used to mill boards there, not broads.

I for one, thought it referred to broad boards.

If Zibi is going to be so outstanding, how do we get there from downtown? It is too far to walk. It is too far even from Pimisi station.

The Ottawa side of Zibi isn't too far from Pimisi Station. I've done that walk. They were also talking about a shuttle from Pimisi a while back.

One thing that's not clear with post-Line 1 opening is whether of not STO buses will continue to the Chaudère Bridge. It doesn't seem so and that is an issue considering Pimisi will be underutilized and Zibi will be undeserved.

OC Transpo will continue to use the bridge and could easily add a few bus stops as the population grows.

I wish the STO's tail plan included a loop using the Chudière Bridge, Albert/Slater, Elgin/ Suusex/Mackenzie, Alexandra and Laurier (Hull). Leave PoW for Trillium Service to Zibi's Building 6, pedestrians and cyclists.
