Offsetting a new bridge means that you'll have to acquire more land (likely to the east and from the ALR

(as it would be sandwiched between developed areas and the new highway).

Now this does not make any sense...
People were angry about this project because they apparently wanted to focus on transit and were worried about the ALR.
Now, under the NDP (the supposed champions of the environment) a study comes out that literally states in order to value engineer (penny pinch) the project that the transit aspect (a proper rapid bus with dedicated centre lanes, direct ramps, and stations, which is the standard approach around the world) be reduced to an after though of a shoulder running system and an entirely new alignment be used for the bridge, which would likely be a far more negative impact on ALR than the original proposal...
Seriously this is asinine.
And any form that retains the original structure is fucking stupid and incredibly short sighted.
Do I have to post my fucking list of reasons why again??
