New West might see a pushback from locals against supertalls, it all depends how Bosa Pier turns out when finished.

Even Royal Towers redevelopment hearing concerns on the ground about height, but that's expected since its higher up the hill, and will standout.

Especially with the slow down in presale condo sales, developers will be wary about building such tall condos.

What’s the allowable residential density for new west? Is it practical to build such a tall taller. If they allow 5 FSR, an 80 or story tower doesn’t make sense.

Geez, you don't even try to pretend not to be such a big shameless shill for the Gilmore project anymore, do you?

Put some effort into it, man.

You have absolutely no idea whatsoever what the new Burnaby mayor would approve or disapprove of - Forget even for a moment the fact that the Mayor typically isn't directly or personally involved in specific building or project approvals rather than overall city planning policy - which in Burnaby's case has already been set. Forget even the fact that if the project had already had rezoning permit approved along with a designated FSR, then it would be legally and litigiously perilous for the new city administration to reverse something that had already been passed by the previous administration on this dollar amount scale without the threat of getting sued in court.

All we know about the new administration's intent is that they would like to have some sort of a slowdown on all the high density project constructions (whatever that means) in light of the demoviction issue that imperiled the previous administration, and in this case the Concord Sears project obviously doesn't even qualify in that regard since it's being built on a parking lot and in front of a mall and not in place of lowrises and affordable housing being demolished.

In other words, you almost certainly don't know what the hell you're talking about, with this bizarre tick you have whenever a project anywhere get's discussed, that in your mind rivals or challenges the "great" Gilmore Place project, and you feel compelled to jump in and cut it down to size like you're responding to some bat signal in the sky.

So funny.
And also so sooo weird.

Haha, you nailed it. I wouldn't buy used car from this guy, let alone a crappy shoebox condo in Gilmore Place. Real estate business must be really slow these days, with so many realtor having recently flooded the forum.

Corrigan was mayor from 2002-2018.
I don't think a new mayor is going to change anything about the future prospective heights of buildings in Burnaby.

Condo prices are already falling in Metrotown area, building the tallest tower in the region no longer makes financial sense for developers.

You would think at the very least Gilmore Station could make himself useful and post some official elevation diagrams of the project so we could see the official heights of all 3 towers.

You know, at least give a little back to the forum one is using as free advertisement.

There/s quite a bit of "under the radar"posters here dedicated to one development/thread, either they've purchased in the development (3Civic) or straight up shill hard for it (Gilmore Station)

I don't get why people are grilling GilmoreStation for promoting Gilmore Place? It's not like many here will start buying units there with the "promotion". Better chance of scoring a success in property buying sites. Remember that Gilmore Place is right by a Hydro substation: not the best place to live IMO.

The thread should be free from the usual mob mentality. Just leave GilmoreStation alone: he/she is free to speak whatever. It's Christmas folks!

Hang on a second....

I thought you said it was the Mayor that was going to prevent Concord from building a tall tower or the tallest tower in Metrotown.

Now it's suddenly falling Condo prices?
Does the new Mayor control those too?

Also is Metrotown the only area suffering from falling Condo prices or are other regions (like,....say....Brentwood......or.......Gilmore....just off the top of my head), also affected too?

Does this also mean that nothing else will change between now and whenever they're presumably granted a design permit (probably a few years down the road) - like I don't know,......condo prices picking back up? The Chinese economy improving....?
......local buyers suddenly losing the appetite to own condos in towers situated next to the second largest mall in Canada?
Nothing will change?

....So many questions.......

Also could someone let LeftCoaster know that those extra-tall tower projects he knows about on the books, are pretty much all doomed now.

GilmoreStation hath decreed it.

Before the Bosa towers I would have never thought that a proposal that tall would be realistic but now it seems any height is as long as it's proposed outside of the city of Vancouver.
