Here's a closer look from 11 days ago and then a more recent pic by Zepfancouver that he posted on December 4th.

As construction continues I really look forward to seeing the construction elevator come down so we can get closer to the final look.

Nice pic! Looks like Halifax had a nice little building boom. I thought there was a height restriction in some places. I guess not, the citadel is hardly visible.

There are actually a few different layers of height restrictions over Downtown Halifax and the surrounding area. The "Ramparts Bylaw" is an overarching limit that prohibits any new construction from being visible from a certain point within the Citadel. There are then the Viewplanes which protect certain views between the Citadel and the Harbour (though not a full panoramic view). Further, there are site-specific height limits for some planning areas including Downtown which are based on (for lack of a better term) post-90s urban design principles.

Too bad it's not higher resolution. Here's what it looks like zooming into the Spring Garden Road area a bit:

It's almost impossible to make out but the Trillium, the highrise near the middle with a curved corner facade, is wedged between two construction sites. The highrises are lined up along South Park street. There's a decent street wall emerging. I wonder if the 60's-70's tower-in-the-park apartments will ever get podiums (or shorter separate structures in front) that resemble those of the lower buildings. The podiums could have rooftop amenity space for the residents that would be as nice as or nicer than what's at ground level now.

The big hole with a crane in it is the Margaretta site.

Looks like a solid streetscape. Beltline?

I was trying to find it on Google streetview, and on a slightly unrelated note, I stumbled upon the intersection of 8th Ave & 1st St, and I have to say it looks like it's probably among the finest downtown intersections in the country: https://goo.gl/maps/fwm3vWfQKGr - never seen it before.

That strip on 1st has always been a cool area, though used to be quite desolate before all the surrounding condos were built. Looks like there's still some good restaurants / bars in the area - an acquaintance of mine was a chef at Ten Foot Henry on 1st right there before moving to Toronto.
