Based on this summary of him

he sounds like a class A numpty. Remind me to never sign up for one of his classes.

Somewhat saddened to see it re-vamped, but it should bring some variety to the area. Just hope the Varette never gets gutted.

I think you mean 77 Metcalfe. Seems more like 20 years ago.

Curious coincidence, 77 Metcalfe is NavCanada’s current HQ; don’t know when they moved in, but Nav was created in about ‘96.

And the same developer, Metcalfe Realty.

77 Metcalfe before and after.

According to Urbsite:

"The 1980s reno of the Commonwealth Building (for the headquarters of NAV Canada) added two more arcaded stories, and moved the lobby to a newly rounded corner, which is topped by a small dome."

I worked in 77 Metcalfe the summer of 1983. It was very much old school even then.

I used to pass by on the bus daily when I lived in Orleans. I moved to Kanata in December 1992 - and I’m pretty sure that the work at 77 Metcalfe was completed before then.

EDIT: Robert says it was done in the late ‘80s. http://urbsite.blogspot.com/2010/01/commonwealth.html
