It's too bad the podium is sandwiched between the 2 towers -
- no one will notice the profile of it as a whole
- both leaning out to Hornby and leaning in from the alley.

The Quorum team at Burrard Place laying down 30M rebar on L6.
The transfer slab is 68”, which is required when building one of the tallest towers in all of Vancouver.

Busy day as our Quorum team at Burrard Place place top steel and waffle wall steel for the L6 south deck while on the opposite end our crew is forming the north deck + pool area.

This design is so fussy that i didn't realize the pattern was part of the structure and that they're doing all this angled shenanigans on the alley-facing side that no one will see. Great prioritizing.

Agreed that the angled structural elements - whihc would be expensive to execute - are completely wasted where no one will see them.

Although obscured when viewed from Burrard, maybe those architectural/structural elements are meant to provide visual interest for the suites in the office tower?

Yes, it is supposed to be a spruced up laneway between the two developments. During planning stage, I was even fantasizing that there would be two 3-storey retail podiums partially linked over the laneway, with the lane having restaurants, cafes and nice lush landscaping, stringed overhead with tiny LED lights spanning the entire alley. Of course, that never happened.
