I'm not up to speed on the building development world. But typically for engineering or construction summer is information gathering season, winter is design season. Pricing comes in with design. So we'll see what happens.

Princess will be 2 way. King won't have bikes lanes from what I can tell.

I feel like they already knew generally what is/was going to be installed. This is formalizing that plan. Otherwise I agree, very disjointed.

What would be nice is a consolidated map showing the details of all the projects and how they connect. Right now everything I can find is split up (disjointed) into separate projects. Like how does the McDemort / Bannatyne project tie into the completed Princess project. How does that connect to Garry, etc, etc,. I think all the information is out there on the City website, just not together in one map.

^ they already installed a single SB bike lane on Princess lane between William and Notre Dame after re-doing the road this year. it does't make any sense and doesn't tie into the plans for Princess north of William..

Along with the fact all of the NROR signs from Main. So now McDermot at Main has a dedicated right turn light that is often red while all others (including bike) are green, but you're allowed to turn right on a red there, so it kind of defeats the whole purpose of having a right turn signal at all.



They have not scanned tickets on the way out since the no re-entry policy started. There's nothing complex about it, just acts as another gate – you scan on the way in to the arena, and if you leave (even into Moxies) you can't go back into the arena.

Not true. Last year, I used the bathroom in Moxies during intermission.

It looks like the Bay will get a heritage designation. I think that is great,, but its going to need an owner that can afford to do something. HBC should be able to afford a proper renovation, but doesn't want to because the asset is currently underperforming. All buildings require regular maintenance just to maintain their value. A leaking pipe needs to fixed or will damage the electrical and if the pipes leak every month it might be time to replace all the pipes. An owner needs a big portfolio of assets to make up for a few under performers. Or they can sell. Now that it has a heritage designation there is a limit on the kind of renovations that can be done which drops its market value. Which I think is OK. That drop in value,, when sold to a new owner makes the required renovations affordable. For HBC is a write off. For owners of some old buildings they seem to hold onto them forever hoping/expecting to make profit refusing to sell for less than they paid.

I would love to see the Bay look like the Hearst Tower in NYC with 50 floors on top for a tech company headquarters.

It's a joke. The fact that they can't be bothered to fix something so basic shows you what HBC thinks about the place. It's almost to the point where downtown wouldn't be much worse off if they just shut down the store completely, as it would force action on the site much how the closure of Eaton's triggered redevelopment of that site.

The Bay is probably in the same fix as City Place was a few years ago. City Place had to change out their escalators as they could not get the drive gears from Otis due to the age of their units.

The units at the Bay I remember as a little kid going in around the mid 1960's so any parts like the drive gears now are not of the shelf parts but have to be special order from a machine shop.

Those escalators are incredibly old, and some beyond repair (they kept fixing them almost monthly for years). FYI a new escalator of that size is about $1 million apiece. Hard to make an argument when that store is probably barely making a million in a year, if at all.

Wow that looks awesome. I believe this kind of thing will boost the attractiveness of the skyline. Considering the passion of those willing to invest in The Bay it is probable.

The Hearst is a great example of old and new mixed. Even 10 stories added would be welcomed. Hopefully the group looking at purchasing the building are close to making this a reality.

You mean clear a million a yer profit, yes?
You must know they do a couple to a few million a month in sales as slow as it is?
Not repairing the escalator is a bad image problem in my opinion.
I know the escalators are 1/2 century old but clients and investors see a bad sign when there.
