Downtown Nashville, along the Cumberland River, is the heart of the city just north of the Gulch...

They broke communication with Atlanta after March... it doesn't seem like they were ever high on the ATL...

There are rumors that the train that they were riding broke down. If that's true, then tht's actually probably the main reason. They can see the incompetence of people who run Atlanta and it's public infrastructure.

Very glad that DC/MD/VA got the memo and passed Metro funding reform this year. Some of those Republicans might be regretting this, thinking "we didn't even have to raise taxes to get Amazon after all..."

I'm extremely surprised that they picked Nashville for that regional operations center.

But, maybe I'm not. It has a much more fun (for adults) downtown than Atlanta does, and maybe that alone was a deciding factor.

Feeling a little used…along with many other cities.

I think many people in the cites that issued proposals to Amazon who had a positive or neutral feelings about Amazon in the past, will harbor some negative feelings towards the company in the future.

I believe this would only be a natural culmination of emotions to those who now feel a little disenfranchised. Psychologically speaking, negative feelings will arise in the minds of those who felt somewhat betrayed through this long drawn out process.

It’s one thing to carry out this process “behind closed doors” , but to place this whole competition on public display - exhibition style – in order to pinch out every penny for oneself smacks of corporate gluttony in its highest form. It would seem counter-intuitive to drag this many of your current and future customers through a gargantuan free-for-all, knowing full well that in the end, there would be 235 losers and only one winner (now 2+).

You can be sure there will be many articles written on how this process was a success for Amazon with just as many articles written about how this process negatively impacted Amazon’s customer base.

As for myself, I have been purchasing through Amazon since the day they started and I have always had nothing but positive things to say about my experience with them, however, I no longer have those positive feelings towards the company. Did these negative feelings form in a vacuum, no, they were cultivated and nurtured by Amazon and Jeff Bezos.

FYI, trains break down in NYC as well. I wonder if ATL try for Apple again since no movement in Raleigh has ocured.

Of course, trains break down everywhere. Since you brought up NYC, here is a map showing that half a dozen train lines pass through Long Island City.

Details from the actual site plan show that NoVA could actually get as many as ~38,000 jobs (25,000 in phase 1, and the remaining in a potential phase 2).

Look at how extensive the system is. I can't believe that I lived in Manhattan full time for six years and never took the subway.
