They go into the vent head house beside the surface part of the station. Since it's always been an emergency exit only, and this isn't open to the public yet I can't see installing a permanent fence ( it's been sunk into the concrete) just to block RTGs own workers. They would have used one of those temporary construction fences instead.

On the other hand, it was meant so that people on buses could escape the tunnel in an emergency without having to run all the way to the station or the tunnel exit, now that it's walled off its not so useful as an exit anyway, yet they've obviously installed new lighting. It's all a bit baffling.

Chris Rands' pics are depressing. Doesn't really look like they'll be done and demobilized by the end of November on those Western stations. I'm not sure they'll have actually finished construction on the downtown stations by end of November from the looks of it. Only the Eastern stations will be in a deliverable state on December 1st. The good news is that it at least it looks like they'll be done construction before Christmas. I think they just might be able to launch revenue service in Feb.
Well, in a slightly positive view the western stations went from an empty shells to about the same level of completion the Eastern stations were a month ago at a much much faster pace, so obviously RTG can speed things up when they want to. Maybe there is hope they can catch all the way up by the end of the month.

As for Blair, they could have at least sprung for some cans of paint. It wouldn't look quite as jarring if they repainted all the red to match the new color scheme

But if during construction it isn't a safe escape route, they need to block it off.

So was this the exit? If so, this is what it looks like now.

Those construction fences keep the honest out and limit their liability if someone does decide to cross them. In an emergency, someone could try to move the fence to use the exit, and if the exit was then blocked further along, that could be a big problem, so they need a bigger barrier. Looking at the picture, only the bolts are sunk into concrete. Those are easily removed and filled or cut and ground flat.

My guess is it will be opened after construction is complete as an emergency exit for the MUP, but they want to be sure no one uses it today.

I hope that when the station opens they put some type of yield sign up on the cycling track to reinforce the fact that pedestrians have the right of way. Some cyclists may still choose to ignore it, but it reinforces that they are in the wrong if they do.

Oh don't worry there will be about 148 different signs blocking the sidewalk, bike path and obstruction the view. City loves signs.

Sure. They are working faster. But we’re still a full month away from completion on these stations. At best. Even in the Eastern stations, we’re looking at another 2 weeks till they completely finish and demobilize.

And given how fast they are working, and the temperature swings these days, we have to be worried about quality for some of the work too. We shouldn’t be happy that they are imitating the student who crams the night before the big exam.

Yeah. That would have actually been good. A nice paint job, and some work on the floors and ceiling (for the bridge) and the platform for the bus station would have gone a long way. I can’t imagine the total cost for all that would have been more than a few million.

If they could scrounge up the budget, for the bridge, I wish they had done this:

https://www.durhamregion.com/news-story/8930093-lighting-up-the-pickering-skyline/

That cost $23 million. But it’s one of the longest pedestrian bridges in the world and at 250m, crosses 14 lanes of traffic and 6 railroad tracks, with only a support in the middle of the highway. Ours could have been done for less than $20 million right up to the mall. And probably less than $15 milllion if I had to guess.

I was wondering why the entrance into the underground concourse at PdV only had one at of doors, and this picture answers it. The ramp down to those doors is on the right just past the overlook getting down to the tunnel level concourse. Considering the size of the PdV complex, this is definitely going to get congested at peak periods. Not totally clear in the picture is if you can also go around behind the stairs on the left hand side.

Interesting. They are probably negotiating a launch date. From yesterday's pics, they actually look like they'll be done by the end of November. I wonder what the minor deficiencies list looks like when they rushed like this.

There's something exciting about taking a relatively blank slate like Lebreton and starting with transit as the backbone. I think starting with a solid downtown backbone and tunnel for the transit system will prove to be one of the best decisions this city ever made. This area is gonna see some REAL TOD the likes of which we have never seen! If only things happened on a little faster time scale....

Ya, something doesn't look right about that. It looks like a ramp for those who don't want to use stairs. There must be a better route that most people will use. There seems to be some sort of stairwell to the right in the foreground. You can find a higher resolution version of that picture here.

With Lebreton/Bayview based on huge projects, it is going to take time to get them going. It is going to be frustrating to continue to watch the land continue to lay empty. The good news is that once things start moving, there will likely be an explosion of building. Of course, the wild card is whether Melnyck can make a go of the Lebreton project. This could delay things a long time.

The station diagram for perspective. The picture is taken from level 3 pretty much on top of the escalator icon on the left that links to level 2 (yellowy orange). The stairs and escalator go up to the podium entrance at ground level

Interesting, it looks like no elevator goes from street level to platform level. Users have to change to another elevator at the concourse level.

Because that's where the fare gates are, and there are side platforms, so passengers have to sort out which platform they are heading to. This is the same arrangement I've seen in all of the systems I've ever used.

The city just shared with media a memo on the Revenue Service Availability date and associated liquidated damages.

I have shared it on the O-Train Fans website and you can find it here : https://www.otrainfans.ca/blogs/clarific...bility-and-associated-liquidated-damages

We're seeing the "O" beacons going up at station entrances across the system. They're easily seen from blocks away. That is something that seems to be missing in Montréal, where the "Metro" sign is quite iconic, but often flat on the entrance and sometimes get lost in the urban landscape. With so many Metro stations downtown, it sometimes hard to find an entrance. I can't speak for other cities because I haven't had the chance to visit.
