You have to wonder how many mixed hotel/condo tower proposals Edmonton can handle. I'd have to guess that at least half of the latest proposals downtown have hotels in the mix. It's not as if Edmonton's suddenly become a much bigger convention or tourism town. I'm loving the proposals, don't get me wrong. At some point though, saturation has to hit on the hotel side.

I think the one rendering you have concerns with may align with the June 7 PM shadow study.

Actually, on that note I talked to the Sales Director for the Aldritt project just this week. She didn't have much to say other than the fact that the project is currently still in pre-dev phase. Sales side is with Maxwell.

Not a huge project but a little renewable system going up on our roof in the Capilano area. 6 on, 6 more for this face (east) and then 16 panels going on the south roof. Also included in this project is an upgrade to a 200amp service to the house with a 100amp dedicated circuit for an EV fast charger in the garage. No EV yet but future-proofing the 50 year old house. Solar has a max potential of 7.2 kW. Should be close if not over net zero for electrical consumption

Sorry for the link. Don't know how to display photos from Flickr

We are probably going to see quite a few more over the next year or 2. I have done quite a few Energy Audits this summer, doing 15 more by the end of the year. Seeing a lot of changes Energy Efficient Motors, LED Lighting and renewable energy (Panels). the big changes. Then the envelope is looked at next.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the spring if the government changes. We're getting about $7k back from the province (and about $750 from the city) not sure if that rebate will be there next year. That's why we hit the button on this now.

We've already done the windows, insulation, DC furnace, upgraded all the lighting and appliances. And added a really cool Tekmar smart WIFI stat that is like a Nest on steroids. The envelope will be the last thing. Maybe next year.

We're getting the latest generation panels that will generate even in ambient conditions. I've run the calcs a number of different ways but still curious how this will turn out in the end. Our installer is doing a fantastic job. Once all the panels are in and all the mounting infrastructure is cleaned up I'll take another photo. I need to find someone with a drone as you won't even be able to see 2/3 of the installation from ground level.

i don’t think so... that one would briefly put the entire north face of the mac in sunshine (ignoring the agt and scotia tower shadows) without this tower and this tower would only cast a shadow on the very far easterly portion of that face (per the shadow study diagram) not the majority of that face as rendered. furthermore, the sun in that study would put the east face of the new tower in sun whereas it’s also wrongly rendered in shadow.

I think this is cool.

I'm curious that if this is inspired by Hastings Pier in England, if those balconies use wood.

Zinc's sh!t can smell just as nasty as aluminium. Zinc does not necessarily = quality design.
