Manitoba wouldn't have the economy to support a big population boom combined with all of the demands that come with it.

I'm sorry to derail us a little here. Back to the photos! It's nice to see some Wpg love on here. I would love to see more east coast and smaller towns. I know it's a "city" skyline thread but there are plenty of municipalities out in our country that make a visual impact without needing a lot of population. St. John's for example.
Its true, Winnipeg alone grew by 50K over the last four years and the road and transit network are struggling to keep up. The city has spread itself out too thinly relative to it's small population, major densification needs to happen in order to maintain status quo for basic city services and infrastructure. Winnipeg always seems to be about 30-40 years behind where it should be.

When are the renos supposed to be done? I'm in Union station at least every month, and it's a new maze every time!

Yes it is, the oldest part of downtown was further up Main, between Portage and the CP tracks.

Interestingly, the "other" big railway station, the CP station (which is of a similar size and scale to Union Station) is at the northern edge of downtown. For whatever reason, both of the stations were set a slight distance away from the heart of the action... they were both downtown, but kind of on the fringes of it.

Nice snap. Love all the satellite skylines starting to mature in form throughout the area.

Vancouver and Toronto are in a league of their own in Canada regarding this urban aspect.

Really makes the area look like a bigger city than 2.6 million.

What does this refer to? Both Hotel Vancouver and Waterfront Station are right downtown in the core?
