I hope they're not planning to put Siemens-size streetcars (as the downtown loop) on the Beltline. That would be out of place, impractical, and stupid.
But they will unfortunately follow the money spend. And who benefits?

Most likely it will be Siemens S70 cars which is fine with me in your opinion what kind of vehicles should be used

Those streetcars in Washington DC are 66 ft long the streetcars that Atlanta has are 79 ft long slightly taller and slightly wider I still would choose the S70 because it can be hooked up in pairs or more which I think will be needed if not at beginning of service definitely further down the line

The S70 is too large scale for the Beltline, in my opinion. It would actually intimidate me if I were walking the trail alongside.

What's the actual measured difference in the two vehicles in those images? To me the primary difference seems to be due to the camera angle. Comparing the doors, height, etc. they actually look to be quite similar in size.

The Inekon tram used by Washington Metro, Seattle, Portland, San Diego etc. is noticeably a smaller scale. Dimensions here: http://www.inekon-trams.com/trio_low-floor_tram_tech_specs.html. As you see, the length dimension is 66 ft.
I think the S70 comes in different variants but all comparatively massive sizes. Not sure which is used in Atlanta.

Like I said in my post above the S70 streetcars are 79 ft long the light rail version of the S70 comes in at 81 ft, 91 ft, and 96 ft

The S70 is ideal for light rail. It would be the best ROI for the Clifton extension and also Marietta Blvd/Atlanta Rd to Marietta. But not the Beltway. That's not a good look.

Yes, we should have a different vehicle for every line, so you have to transfer 3 times for one trip.

So based on those two sheets the S70 is only 8 inches wider and taller. Definitely larger, but maybe that feels larger in person than it sounds? I agree that the lengths are very different though, it'd be nice to have some shorter versions in Atlanta.

That's a highly unlikely scenario. I'm only recommending more fitting equipment for the beltline. Transfers from Marta heavy rail to/from streetcars and buses will happen regardless.

Generally, I like it!

I don't think its perfect but I can totally support this plan. I'm excited to see some forward movement on transit in the city which is badly needed.

This is in Salt Lake in a similar setup to the Beltline.
