I think it'd be a great idea. The question is, where would they route I-5 to connect it from 50 to I-80?

Saw this advertisement on the Biz Journal. I don't think I've ever seen this rendering or massing for Township 9 before (or the Railyards). It's an ad for the Bankruptcy Sale. Follow the link below for the webpage.

Construction begins on the Marshall Hotel. Sidewalks on 7th and L Streets are fenced off and equipment is being moved in. It appears that there is some internal gutting happening.

It'll be happening for a few months, they plan to reuse some of the material I think. Hopefully things start to go vertical by next year.

I hope that Kolokotronis or Miry or even Mohanna pick up some land at Township 9 and build out there, it's a really promising project that needs to get built out.

How for certain is the Shorenstein building? God the leadership of this city needs to be turned over. Where are the visionaries? The city has suffered long enough at the hands of people that just settle and create mediocrity. That is not leadership. Time to get rid of the weak.

The city government doesn't propose towers but they have failed to challenge and inspire private enterprise to think big. This is also the failure of local developers and the business leaders to envision something grander and have the wherewithal to finance it. There are still too many suburban-minded people running the show but thankfully things are changing despite them, not because of them.

I am a lurker as well, and check almost daily. Would love to see more photo updates. I know we are all busy, but there are definitely people interested in Sacramento’s development.

When I have the time, I take walks around parts of downtown/midtown to check up on projects I'm interested in. Here are my recent notes. Sorry no pics.

E@16 - 5 story residential with some commercial: Not started

Lavender Courtyard (F & 16): Not Started

H & 16- 5 story residential with some commercial: Foundation poured, vertical beginning.

19J: Near topping out. Couldn't quite count which floor they are on.

2101 Capitol: Finished, and has been for a while, but the ground floor retail isn't leased.

Press Building (277? new apartments I think): Vertical Beginning. I didn't realize the elevated portion of light rail is immediately on the south side of this site.

Q19: Almost done. Streetside landscaping work underway. Ground floor retail doesn't appear to be leased yet. No "coming soon" signs.

1430Q: 3rd and 4th floors are being framed in prep for concrete pouring.

And some general thoughts from my walk:

1. JUMP bikes are EVERYWHERE.

2. With the Press Building, the P/Q/R townhomes, Q19, and a couple smaller nearby projects, these few blocks are about to be largely transformed.

3. I count 3 tower cranes up right now: 1) 19J, 2) 1430Q, and 3) the new O Street State office building. Can anybody remember when there were 3 tower cranes up at the same time? There is also a crane right now at the 6-story project on 65th Street near Sac State, but I can't tell if its a tower crane from the freeway, and I'm no crane expert.

I was just about to respond saying I see three cranes on the gird right now too! Not that they are putting up anything really big, but still that's "stuff" happening.. I'm guessing the next crane to go up will be the new Natural Resources building, which will be the tallest building to go up in years, anyone know how close that one is to going vertical?

I don't know how close this is to going vertical. I have heard (from someone who I would expect to know) that the crane for this building will not be a tower crane. When I heard this I immediately said how do you build a 20 story bldg without a tower crane? The reply had something to do with a possible conflict with a nearby building. I was told they would use a BIG mobile crane.

I really appreciate all the photos and updates as well--even if I don't comment.

For 19J, the last floor should be starting to frame soon (11th floor penthouse).

Speaking of cranes there is a potential for two more--the new hotel at Marshall, which I assume will need a crane, and the courthouse which is, if I am not mistaken, intended to break ground before year's end.

I just drove by the Natural Resources building site yesterday and they're still doing excavation work. It's definitely moving fast by Sacramento standards but I suspect it'll still be a while before it goes vertical.

I expect the crane to go up on P street office project in early Spring.

It's possible but not probable that the new developments of 10K and 17Central could start construction next year. Both projects have not gone to planning yet but I expect them to be approved late winter/early spring

The planning commission recently approved the two student housing developments along 65th street - the Q Street Commons and 65th East - both are 6 stories tall.

Don't worry guys we will have more construction cranes on the way. the marshall hotel, the new Sacramento courthouse, the 14 story 10K project by Mohanna and hopefully the new convention center hotel etc.
