In addition to those 2 lots, there is tons of on st parking around them. Meters are free after 6. As well on the other side of main st you have assumption parking lot and the market. they are all a minutes walk from restaurants.. then a 5 min walk(4-7 blocks) to the DT center.

I am not very familiar with downtown Moncton but I have been to capitol theatre about a dozen times in the last few years

I just have a feeling the booters are going to make a killing, along with the tow truck drivers.
I checked on the city of Moncton website so I kinda know where not to park
Yes, the entrance to the lot is on Westmorland. There's even on street parking further down on assumption that almost always has spots. If you don't mind walking a few extra steps. Despite the fear mongering about downtown never having parking on even a regular night (pre events centre) I have never had an issue finding a spot on even the busiest of nights and have no clue where those people are looking.

Was in to Fahda's at lunch.. she mentioned she is dropping her Market lease and extending her hours at her storefront location to be open for games and events. As well as expanding her menu. She will be the closest quick food option in the vicinity i am sure she will do well.

They put up numbers above each of the separate entrances into the events centre today. I'd imagine they'll put up a sign for the box office soon.

News release by the City of Moncton:

Festivities planned for Moncton Events Centre Grand Opening

August 29, 2018

MONCTON – On September 8 and 9, the Events Centre will open its doors, and residents are the guests of honour! A ribbon-cutting ceremony and many activities are planned over the weekend, to celebrate the completion of largest project ever undertaken in Moncton, a decade in the making.

“The economic and cultural benefits of this new Centre has already paid dividends to our city – and will continue to do so for many years to come,” highlights Mayor Dawn Arnold. “I am thrilled to invite citizens of all ages to visit their state-of-the-art building, with world-class features, all the while providing an intimate setting for fantastic shows, not to mention a welcoming, multipurpose community space.”

The traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 10am on Saturday, September 8. Afterwards, the Centre’s doors will open for self-guided tours, while live entertainment and fun activities will be hosted in the Plaza until 8pm on September 8, as well as from noon to 5pm on Sunday, September 9.

The plaza programming, sponsored by Atlantic Lottery, is being presented in partnership with a number of Moncton’s vibrant community festival organizers including: Acadie Rock, Acoustica, Aigles Bleus (Université de Moncton), Atlantic Ballet of Canada, Breathe Yoga Fest, Festival Inspire, Moncton Magic, Moncton Wildcats, Mosaïq Multicultural Festival, and New Brunswick Youth Orchestra (Pops NB/Tutta Musica).

“These great community groups are going to be the ones who will animate this plaza space in the months and years to come,” confirms Catherine Dallaire, General Manager of Recreation, Culture and Events. “It is only fitting that they will help us to celebrate the official opening of this important public space.”

She added: “Over these two days, we will be showcasing amazing local talent both in the performing arts and in pro sports. Many family-friendly activities are planned as well (‘Giant Jenga, anyone?’), and food vendors will be on site.

Back in the planning stages, it was clear that residents wanted the outdoor plaza to be an inspiring space, and the programming to be presented for the official opening weekend will make use of every element of the site.”

“As the operator, we truly believe this is one of the premier facilities in the country,” said Nick DeLuco, General Manager of the Events Centre, on behalf of SMG Canada. “The team, most of whom are from the area, is ecstatic to officially to open the doors and showcase what this building has to offer to the citizens of Moncton and Atlantic Canada.”

Local sports enthusiasts and historians will be thrilled to visit the all-new Moncton Sports Wall of Fame, located in the lobby. With a fresh new look, and interactive panels, the athletes, builders and teams are prominently featured for their accomplishments and contributions to our community.

Within the Events Centre’s large flex space, which can be rented for banquets, meetings, conferences, etc., visitors will find kiosks with key information on a variety of topics, such as the Centre’s accessibility features (with the City’s Accessibility Committee), the Maritime Operation Lifesaver Rail Safety Booth, and the MyBestOption campaign with Codiac Transpo on travel options to the Centre and downtown. In addition, the ‘Name a Seat’ campaign will be on site – details to come!

Stage entertainment presented in the Plaza over the two days is offered with the gracious support of Atlantic Lottery.

No mention of naming rights at opening other than ALC sponsoring the plaza opening. I wonder is there is a possibility of ALC getting naming rights?

Wow. That is............small. I wonder if they had to make it that small because that's all they were allowed to make room for many different other vendors in that area in the future. Or was that all that they wanted I wonder?

Seems about the right size for a kiosk. It's probably a term lease situation as well, so it may become another establishment down the road, if they choose not to renew. The more permanent concessions will be larger.

I went to a Jays game a couple of months ago at Rogers Centre and plenty of them seemed to be about that size. Of course, there were a LOT more of them.

Right on man. Hopefully we'll see more of them too. The more choices the better!

I imagine a lot of the kiosks that cluttered the concourse at the Coliseum will migrate to the events centre (as long as the rental fee isn't too outrageous).

Does anyone know what the prices inside the Center will be like? Beer, arena food (popcorn, hotdog, soft drink), etc?

Rumor that the naming rights will be announced at a press conference Thursday Evening.

Would be nice to have a name in place before the first event next wednesday..and with the kick off this weekend.

Edit: The invite that went out to the press conferences states that "this will be a world first for the industry of the naming partner".

Speculate away!

Well, I guess this removes any bank or brewery from consideration.

Maybe it will be the Majesta/Royale Centre, and the nickname will become the "Toilet Bowl"!!!
