Interesting that a building of this size can be proposed and the design isn't all that good or bad and the reaction here is ho hum. The setting is different but just a few years ago another ho hum building, 1919 Market was at the center of a lot more conversation. Are we getting jaded?!

Obviously I can't speak for the forum, but I feel that this is a fine tower/height for its location, whereas 1919 should have been much taller based on its location. 1919 would look perfect, and have aroused much less ire, were it built in this zone.

If 709 Chestnut was being proposed for 8th & Market, for example, this forum would implode in on itself.

Perhaps they're quiet because no one cares about arena football? I believe there are only 4 teams in the league... It's hard to even call that a league.

It's on TV so it has more exposure than most failing companies, but this seems like the equivalent of Blockbuster moving their headquarters here.

Perhaps, but I suspect the national outlets would have reported on a move to NYC, DC, or Boston.

In any case, Arena Football is looking to expand, so let's hope it succeeds.

Assuming that list is accurate, I'm surprised that Atlanta came in at #3 with 51 million. I'm even more surprised that, since New Orleans and Washington DC didn't make the cut, and #10 is San Fran with 25 million, that means Atlanta had more visitors than DC and New Orleans put together, which I find even more incredulous.

Okay, I googled a bit, and New Orleans comes in with 18 million, DC with 22 million.

Atlanta had just 38 million in 2010, but in the last 8 years that number has grown to the 51 million cited in the link.

That's crazy - an aquarium and the world of coke isn't enough to fuel that. What else is going on there?!

^ I dunno, maybe Buckhead, the High Museum, major sports, Emory, Georgia Tech, and so on. I'm no Atlanta fan, but I suppose it benefits from being the only "big city" experience within a very large region. It has a big air hub too. I much prefer some place quaint, like Savannah, but what do I know?

That's actually probably it. They probably used airline data in some of these calculations, and Atlanta INTL is the largest airport in the US.

Atlanta also hosts lots of conferences too. That could play into these numbers as I don't think DC and some other cities host as many conferences as Vegas, Philly, Atlanta, etc. Just a total guess.

Just checked ..... Denver International Airport (DIA) in Denver, Colorado, US is the world's second largest airport by land area, and the largest airport in the United States. It covers a total of 13,726 hectares. The airport has the longest public use runway in the country .

But yes , Atlanta is the busiest ....... If I read correctly , LAX and O'hare were listed 2 and 3 ...... Whoda thunk it .....

NYC's three airport (some count 4) add up to more the Atlanta, but as a single airport they claim more passengers then any other in this country. It's as boring as hell, I've been stuck there twice for around 12 hours. One can only ride the little airport subway so many times before it gets old.
