I wonder what is happening with this tower? Here are a few renders I haven't seen before.

Client: Allied Properties REIT
Size: 45 floors; an estimated 1,070,000 s.f. of rentable office space
Status: In-Progress

I haven't heard of them even testing the waters that much with preliminary leasing.

It is a prime location next to Union, but so is every other major tower under consideration. It's not easy to secure a 300,000+ SF commitment, look how much trouble Cadillac had with 160 Front.

True, and with 160 Front looking like it has some momentum behind it now I suppose it would stall this tower for even longer.

Nice pictures, I haven't seen those ones yet. My logical side says this one remains on the backburner for quite a long time given the plans to start Bay Adelaide N and 160 Front in January, plus with CIBC Square, 16 York St, and The Well Office Tower all u/c and coming into the marketplace during a similar time. Then there's The HUB and CC3 fizzling in the background as well. Its becoming a very busy time for office development.

I thought this one was going to knock down and build on the site of the current Citi tower? Is that no longer the case, or am I thinking of a different building?

I don't think there was ever a plan to knock down the Citi building. I hope that never happens. IS it possible you are thinking of the original design which had this built into and over the brick data centre back in 2009?

Ironic that the suburban wasteland that is Missingsausage gets much more interesting and visionary scraper designs than Toronto.

right now Union Station seems about 4 x times to big for the 250,000-300,000 commuters that pass through there each day. But with all this development, I think it will soak up a lot of that additional capacity the renovation has given it.

No matter how interesting some of the towers might be in Mississauga none of them address the shitty job that "city" has done at the street level. All I see are two towers that are very interesting to look at sprouting from a soulless suburban street grid. Vaughan and Markham are doing a much better jobs at creating new urban areas.

I do like them though as it reminds me a bit of one I mocked up a few years back.

Vaughan and Markham have the benefit of learning from Mississauga's mistakes in urban planning. that said, as it stands, both are FAR more 'soulless' than Sauga which still at least has pockets or urbanity ie. Port Credit, Streetsville. If Vaughan's plans come to fruition it WILL look amazing.. but Mississauga is a lot closer to achieving something of the sorts than either Vaughan or Markham which are both years away in terms of catching up. Once the LRT is completed in a couple of years I anticipate that the street grids will improve dramatically (at least by sauga' standards, i'm sure Torontonians will still disapprove lol) until then it is still nice to see that the city is far ahead of many of it's counterparts when it comes to innovate architecture and there is no doubting the fact that the skyline is impressive given where it was just 10 years ago. These things take time.. and transforming a sleepy satelite city into an urban metropolis can't happen overnight... but hey, they've got several developments that are worth admiring. Every time I get back to Mississauga I am always impressed by how much it's grown. Of course, I still see huge areas for improvement, but patience...

I'd say something like the Gehry proposal is more interesting than this.

Vaughan maybe, but Markham has for more and better pockets of urbanity old and new compared to the sausage.

If Toronto is the "New-York" of Canada, Mississauga is definitely the Dubai.

the Hull proposals got the axe from council.

They were on this list for a bit. At barely 200 meters, i dont even know if they are tall enough for this list.

Jeez....that's a proposal that could give you a nightmare....bleugh. If this tower was in an urban area, I could understand it....but in the Sausage....it's going to stick out in a very fugly way. At least M City isn't going.....conservative in it's architecture....but even then, I guess the city doesn't seem to mind the height being proposed here.

M City as a whole just seems rather depressing. It's as if it's trying to be this hip, "urban" address in an area that lacks much urbanity except for some pockets and lanes. (in the "downtown")
Maybe if Mississauga fills in some fields and makes Square one less of an eyesore (in more than one way) we'll see some real progress in "urbanity" for the area.

Anyways...….seeing 160 Front rise will be insane.....and if and when Union Centre occurs.....man that'll be impressive as you walk along the Skywalk.

Taken 5 days ago...

20. Canada House 1 (Toronto): 231.2m / 759ft
29. Canada House 2 (Toronto): 202.2m / 663ft

Well, the site is closed off, and work is beginning, taken five days ago.

Oh wow. I didn't really think those towers would go through. Good news nonetheless.
