I really like the look of this building. If Nikki is able to pull off this project, does this make up for all things Mo did back in the day?
I don't think it was what Mo did, but more what wasn't done. There was a lot of nothing happening and impatience, but that's all water under the bridge. We are lucky to have new energy and a new outlook on development from the Mohanna's. Hopefully 19J and 10K are just the start of a nice run of successful projects.

Well said! If Nikki can pull this off in addition to her J street project she will be helping to invigorate downtown with younger people who may not otherwise be able to afford living downtown. This could really help make Sacramento a destination for younger people on the West Coast. Seattle tried the micro apartments but shut down the experiment early because of neighborhood opposition from higher end high density projects.

As most of us know UP has a huge California presence-any thoughts (I thought about that while driving by their huge Roseville yard today)?

You would think a pension fund with the global investments like CalPERS could pick up the phone and at least get a few floors leased by offering companies with large investment by CalPERS, a West Coast presence (even if there’s no people working in Sacramento). How could they say no to CalPERS? Lol

This is all in jest of course.

Hey Urban. Not sure if we meet in person. I was there atop The Macy's parking garage watching the Sacramento Union building get demolished while a bunch of us drank my wine! I also attended a couple of those scraper page 12-step programs where we we all sat around and drank. If you were there, then we likely met. :-)

I like this design a lot. This former bank building has been empty for so long and its a critical location to continue the K Street renaissance.

With the revamped 700 block of K Street nearing completion and Cambria Solutions' future rehab of the former American Savings building the only significant blot left on the street will be the hole at 8th and K streets.

The latest 301 Capitol Mall proposal looks much better than the previous one. Well at least not as likely to become dated as quickly. Is it higher than the previous proposal? Lets hope this one actually moves forward.

yeah It's supposed to be over 500 ft. If built, it would be the tallest building in Sac.

Re: 301 CM, I have to wonder- if Vanir couldn't find a tenant to pre-lease, how much difficulty will CalPers/CIM have to do the same? Maybe they have deeper contacts? Anyone else wonder about that?

I'm also digging the 10th and K rendering and hope Nikki pulls it off. Definitely rehabbing the family name recently and could possibly make a good test case for SRO/Dorm/Micro-unit style residential for yuppies.

I do worry about 8th and K though, especially with the recent news of the Kings being in a somewhat shaky financial position. Still, the 700 block alone will really help that stretch even before 10th&K and 8th&K (hopefully) gets built.

They're moving really fast Natural Resources building it seems like. Gonna be exciting watching that one go vertical.

Still hoping for that Capitol Grand Tower, man that thing was a beauty! Maybe not at its proposed height, but still, if the family is back in the game it can be in the discussion.

Not in this cycle defs not, but perhaps the next cycle when developers and companies are more confident in the market, especially in Sacramento. Besides, we already 301 CM and from what I can remember about Capitol Grand Tower the two projects are the same, except Capitol Grand Tower had a hotel and was much MUCH taller (965 roof height).

Also, it looks like a crane is being installed for the 15th and Q project. Didn't know a 8 story midrise even needed a tower crane.

Sacramento Developers

Would it be safe to say that Sotiris Kolokotronis (SKK Developments) and Bay Miry are currently the most prominent developers in the central city?

Following behind would be maybe Friedman/Heller, CFY, with Nikky Mohanna as a rising star?

I'm sure i'm missing some other big names.... who else is out there?

Does anyone think David Taylor will make a comeback and get back into it?
