So that old BellSouth deck is the other half of the block that's not being developed so far. Though that is actually closed now and not in use. So I'm not sure what's going on with that. It's a huge eyesore, kills the street experience there altogether. You couldn't really build anything like that today. Hopefully it will be torn down and developed soon.

I predict they will build student housing on top of it. That deck is way too valuable to tear down.

It's safe to assume whatever replaces that garage will have parking but it's not going to literally be built on top of it. There's zero chance that rickety old thing was built to support anything.

A reinforced cement structure that can hold hundreds of cars can also support a 5 story building on top. They are proposing doing this over a parking garage near peachtree center

God I hope they tear down that parking deck. That one, above almost every other one in the whole city, enrages me. It runs the whole block, has no street level activation and isn't even in use.

Carl Icahn owns that property, pretty sure he’s not in the student housing business.

Novare buying Buckhead sites

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news...sidential-developer-buying-buckhead.html
Quote:
A Novare real estate affiliate last month purchased multiple properties between Piedmont and Maple Drive that today are dotted with low-rise office buildings dating back to Buckhead’s suburban beginnings decades ago.

Zoning guidelines for those sites allow for a tower of up to 150 feet.
The property acquired by Novare Group is in the center right of this photo

Mentioned this last week, no one seemed to notice. Let’s hope for something different here.

Buckhead is capable of packing in a TON of density between Piedmont and Peachtree and Buckhead Station and Lindbergh Station. I fully expect Piedmont to be mid and high rises between these two stations in the not too distant future.

A few tidbits from the Business Chronicle

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news...ion-airport-hotel-among-new-atlanta.html

The Studioplex Hotel, now developed by Portman, is expected to break ground in the second quarter of 2019 with construction taking about 18 months. I just hope they don't value engineer the character out of it.

Construction for the Interlock Development will begin in late 2018 or early 2019.

Construction on the Intercontinental at the airport is scheduled to start shortly after the Super Bowl.

BREAKING: Archdiocese's Prominent Midtown Parcel Under Contract

Quote:
A prime Midtown Atlanta parcel owned in part by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta is under contract to undisclosed buyers.

The 4.1-acre site called Ponce and 3rd — formerly home to the Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School — is slated to be sold to two separate buyers, sources told Bisnow. The identity of the buyers was undisclosed as of press time. Bisnow was not able to determine the price.

While the identity of the buyers was undisclosed, sources told Bisnow at least one developer was eyeing student housing. That move would make sense given the site's proximity to Georgia Tech and Tech Square, where numerous companies have been setting up shop to tap into the university's steady stream of talent.

Any information on the Accent 2050 job? Maybe 60% complete but seems abandoned.

Must be. The webcam on the project is frozen May 10th, 2018.

Chicago real estate giant CA Ventures wants to develop tower in Technology Square

This is probably the student tower that was mentioned in a previous article.

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news...utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=twitter
Quote:
Chicago-based CA Ventures has one-acre of the property at West Peachtree, Spring, Ponce de Leon and 3rd Street under contract, sources familiar with the company's plans confirmed. It hopes to build a residential tower on an existing parking lot along Spring Street.

CA Ventures has just one piece of the site known as "Ponce & 3rd" under contract. Another potential buyer has an agreement to purchase the rest, though the identity of that buyer is unknown. Cushman & Wakefield, which has been marketing the property, could not comment.

Francisco Rios, vice president of investments for CA Ventures, declined to comment about the company's reported interest in the property, which is owned by a group that includes the Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta. CA Ventures, branching out from its roots as a student housing developer, has looked for an opportunity to develop a project in Technology Square for several years.
