Out of curiosity, have they published their full winter schedule yet?

So they’re trying again? Second attempt but only twice weekly. Resource based flying slowly turning around.

-DEN got slashed to just 3x weekly. Ops same days as F9.
-MCO got a nice boost, appears to even be daily on Jan?

Perhaps the Frontier effect?

I know Frontier has a funny way of loading flights only about 6 months in advance. But it appears LAS ends mid December? Only connections via DEN three times a week after 12 December?

WestJets full winter schedule is out. Lots of increasing including one new route of 2x weekly Montego Bay.

Looks like 17 extra flights a week from the international terminal, plus some expansion on the US side as well. Not bad. Hopefully this can lead to more seating and a Tim's.

To get a true picture, we have to manually search for the flights that are getting discontinued.

I have a suspicion that flights are getting concentrated at the hubs. Also YYZ could see a net decrease because of losses on the domestic side.

Finally, there is no chance of a post security Tim's in the international terminal.

For winter increases that's actually really quite huge for YYC.

Those are some pretty big domestic increases too.

Really solidifying YYC as their major hub and taking straight aim at AC.

Also with the increases to YZF, YQU and YMM, YYC has really overtaken YEG as the connecting point to the North.

The other increases in Western Canada are really just token additions.

The only major loss I see is MEX is gone from YYC and YVR. Therefore no direct link to MEX from YYC. YVR maintains 2 daily AM, 1 daily AC and 4 weekly 4O.

Amazing how nobody can seem to make YYC-MEX work.

Again, some of those domestic increases are pretty bold for winter flying. Really looking at boosting YYC’s connectivity and helping feed those transborder and sun flights. Westjet quite bullish about economic recovery in Calgary.

Losing MEX still somewhat bewilders me.

Looks like it’s up to Westjet to keep the international pax stats growing.

I really think WS is making it tough for AC at YYC. AC already cutting sun capacity, dropping NRT for winter and axing YQF (not a big deal) and pretty negligible transborder growth.

Perhaps MEX wasn't selling that well in the winter months? Wonder if it will be resumed in some capacity in the future. It seemed like it was doing well.

Just noticed BNA got expanded too. Ends late November, and returns early March instead of late April.

I don't think it's about O&D at all at YYC. 50% of WS pax traffic at YYC is now connecting. They are adding domestic capacity to feed their international and trans-border routes. Will be interesting to see what happens with the 789s; Vancouverites think WestJet will shift capacity to YVR and YYZ, but I can't see the home town airport missing out on 789 service from the start

WS timetable shows YYC/YVR-MEX ends October 21. It does still show up when you look up flights, so perhaps it hasn't rolled through their booking engine yet.

I don't think too many Vancouverites think 789 service is going to be YVR/YYZ, I'd say the prevailing thought it is will be YYZ centric with some YYC and YVR service.

With the original 10 I could see:

YYZ-LGW daily - 1 frame
YYZ-AMS daily - 1 frame
YYZ-CDG daily - 1 frame
YYZ-Misc Europe 2 frames

YYC-LGW daily - 1 frame
YYC-AMS daily - 1 frame

YVR-LGW daily - 1 frame
YVR-AMS daily - 1 frame

Misc Canada-LGW - 1 frame

I really think we will see AC slowly wind back ops at YYC.
The YYC market won’t be able to sustain this level of service between the two carriers even as a connecting hub. Absolutely AC won’t abandon AC’s traditional routes but I do see a scaling back over the short to medium term... their recent adjustments certainly indicate they are far from expansion mode at YYC. They are already referring to YYC as a hub less and less with each investor publication.

You're missing the China/Japan routes. And KLM already runs a YYC-AMS on a A330-200 or 789 most days of the week. CDG would make more sense?

I wonder if we'll see YYC-PVG or YYC-NRT/HND. Could kill the AC route though.
