I'm warming to it a little. It's nice to have a different style in the mix. And I like the scale relative to the towers on 14th. A decent part of the urban fabric to me.

Looks like trash in person, IMO. Could fit in Opus excavation hole

There is a new 4 story office building about to begin construction in Glenwood Park at the intersection of Bill Kennedy Way and Faith Avenue where there's currently a patch of grass. A friend who lives in GP showed me the renderings and it's some kind of brick/masonry exterior and fits very nicely there. No new parking will be added.

Here's the site currently:

Exciting! Can't wait to see how it fits into the Glenwood Park fabric.

Assuming either of those actually comes to fruition. Would be nice.

I'm looking forward to 1105 W Peachtree really filling things in up front there. With so much running north/south and the north end filling out, it feels like Midtown has a hollow center to me. 1105 does some nice filling-in.

Agreed, agreed, agreed! 1105 Will be nice because it brings in a lot of jobs and residences. Obviously jobs are great and I'm REALLY excited we're adding a lot more to Midtown, I just want to see us keep balancing it with new residences as well.

Memorial Drive Update

FWIW pretty much all of the stuff that has been proposed on Memorial Drive is now well under way, including 764 Memorial, Modera Reynoldstown, Madison Yards, and Atlanta Dairies. The "active" list only reflects the latter two.

Although it's not on the proposed or active list, a group of Wieland townhomes is currently going up between the "new" Wonder Root and Madison Yards. The website shows that it will be a carbon copy of the Wieland townhomes on the BeltLine in IP/O4W. These, however, will have the ignominous distinction of being in a "gated community." I guess empty nesters fleeing East Cobb want to feel "edgy" in their $800+ townhouse but also want to feel "safe" what with all the graffiti and diversity in the surrounding neighborhood.

The old Wonder Root site should be breaking ground by the end of the year, though I don't see it in the "proposed" list (it's an Urban Realty Project and I believe the Smith Dahlia renderings were floating about on this site a few weeks ago). As the for the Wonder Root refresh of the old high school, no word on when that might happen.

I believe there is also a small mulit-family development on the corner of Memorial Drive and Wilbur that is going

I'm not sure about the small commercial-only development (across from Grindhouse) that I first read about in Curbed a few years ago. I've seen some signs posted relating to Variances and there is an "available" sign on the front, but I have no idea whether it's moving forward any time soon.

Nice update. The steady pace of development on Memorial has been remarkable.

For sure. So much is happening, Memorial may need its own thread soon. I thought the re-striping of Memorial from the suicide lane to a center turn lane was supposed to be happening this year, but I haven't heard anything about it in quite a while.

I live just a few blocks from both Moreland and Memorial -- the contrast in what's being developed on the two is remarkable. There are a couple of nice townhouse projects on Moreland, but the only significant new commercial announcement lately was a Dunkin' Donuts. Hoping to see the section between DeKalb Ave and EAV get some development love soon.

Edit: I found the Memorial Drive work in a state bid document. Does this mean it's pushed back by a year?

I live in this area too. That article said a year ago they were supposed to break ground in a month with delivery about....now. Meanwhile Iffy Grocery continues to fester. I wonder what the delay is. Also, the realignment of Glenwood Ave at Moreland has been pushed back yet again; a project that needs to happen yesterday. Disappointing that can't seem to move forward.

I feel your pain. GDOT was also supposed to start construction on the Moreland/Arkwright redesign this year but there's no sign of progress. Too busy building and rebuilding northside freeway interchanges in an endless loop, I guess.

725 Ponce

Curbed took a photo tour of 725 Ponce and the developer revealed that there will be a Phase 2 of the development that will begin construction once phase construction is complete.

https://atlanta.curbed.com/atlanta-photo...beltline-offices-eastside-trail-new-city

Quote:
The project’s second phase will consume the parking lot near Green’s Beverages on Ponce de Leon Avenue.

“Honestly, it could be anything,” he says, though a phase-two tower would max out at roughly half the current building’s size, with retail at the base.
