Philips Arena is used 200+ days a year. I'm not saying the Gulch wouldn't be picked by Amazon, but it's just not that viable for them. South downtown is still sort of wretched and someone spending billions is less likely to gamble on it than something established with a clear path like midtown. The Gulch will make a nice area with a high podium of parking topped by a "Battery ATL" like development over the top and serve the sports facilities well.

1. South Lake Union was also "sort of Wretched" when Amazon first moved into that area. This is why Amazon stressed a preferrence for a transformative site for HQ2 in their RFP (to repeat what happened in South Lake Union), and it doesn't get much more transformative than The Gulch.

2. If anything, the vibrancy that comes from being in close proximity to the stadiums, convention center, museums, etc. in South Downtown may be the exact type of of urban environment they desire.

Looking at the details of the role, it seems more like a lobbyist role.

That doesn't necessarily have to be tied to a HQ.

No, they're different roles.

Also, the Newark roles are specifically for Audible (not Amazon itself).

The Costar writer I shared my research with has gone dark probably because I went on here and shared too much info on this forum. Given the magnitude of the story I suspect they are doing extreme due diligence. Additionally I discovered something else yesterday and shared it with my contact and no I am not going to share it here.

As for the story concerning the Amazon Economic Development job posting in DC - there is no way in hell they would have this HQ2 selection process that has gone on almost a full year on lock down - only to spoil it with a LinkedIn job postings. Come on folk.

I see this move by Gov. Deal as a win for HQ2 and evidence that underlying talks are still happening exclusively with Georgia.

"Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed an executive order Monday to stop collecting sales tax on jet fuel effective Wednesday, a tax the legislature kept in place this year to penalize Delta Air Lines.
The Georgia legislature debated dropping the 4% sales and use tax on jet fuel this year as part of a broader tax overhaul. But lawmakers kept the tax in place in retaliation for Delta halting a discount program with the National Rifle Association.
Deal noted that Georgia airports generate $62 billion in economic activity each year, with flights at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport supporting $11 billion in investment and 42,000 jobs across the state."
