Trattoria will be taking that cube space

Lougheed is only a bit further away from Brentwood in terms of travel times (14-22mins per Google Maps) and yet people don't seem to make the same kinds of comparisons.

Brentwood will have a fairly affluent residential base living literally 'right on top'. I suspect that we will be seeing several of the same stores present in both, especially during the next phases in the mall.

Also, those glass cubes would make for a terrible bank. Where would they put the vault?
North Burnaby also has a higher average household income than South Burnaby, plus SFU and BCIT are close and much handier for students and there are a lot of students living in the area around Brentwood. I knew a few people renting out places in the area while going to BCIT.

Chadstone is a suburban mall in Melbourne and they have some pretty decent stores that the Vancouver area could see more of like COS, Louis Vuitton, Tesla, Chanel beauty, Dior Beauty (they have numerous stand-alone stores down under it seems for Chanel and Dior that only sell their beauty and fragrance products) something that will probably hit Canada at some point.

Plus there is a huge catchment area from East Vancouver where potential shoppers literally have "nowhere to go to", except to downtown, which won't be as easy for them to get to due to various travel-related congestion, distance, bad planning, etc.

I would say large parts of the North Shore too. If you're on the East Side of second narrows, probably easier to hop on highway and cross to Brentwood than it is to go Park Royal.

Its going to be a big perk if this mall gets some good tenants... Its about time we start hearing some announcements. They are working on sidewalks and finishes. Tenants should be signed, and design started on shops.

The leasing plans have been updated again
- this time the brochure has December 20, 2017 plans.

http://shapeproperties.com/leasing/assets/projects/brentwood/pdf/brentwood-brochure.pdf

The North Anchor is now marked "Department Store" and is a bit smaller on its lower level (52,140 SF lower; 65,165 SF upper) due to a wider underground parking ramps (to loading and direct to P2) and there is a new "Department Store Dock" on the Level 153' Plan next to the "Valet Lobby" (there are 145 Valet parking stalls marked). The older plans had the department store dock one level higher - at the lower level of the store.
The valet lobby still suggests Saks Fifth Ave. to me but could also be a common valet for the mall, not just the department store.

The "Office Lobby" adjacent to the North Anchor is now a CRU. on both levels.

Here's the first, well aside from the cineplex and indigo announcements from way back I guess.

Nice, thanks.

I see only 2 units that are close to 44K SF on the plans.
One is the underground space at 45K SF,
and the other is one level above the plaza level that I think is for the Rec Room.
Could be that they've combined units and Sporting Life will be on the plaza (?) below Rec Room.

Edit: Yup, the Rec Room is also 44K SF:

My 2cents anyway...

That would make sense, it would have easy cart access to parking on the same level.

But earlier plans showed a 35-40,000 SF underground anchor at the SE corner of the site with a café,
which was thought to be a supermarket location.
But that end of the mall seems to be on the backburner now (with the Sears store shown as-is on plans),
so that space (and the tower above) could be too far in the future for a supermarket (which is more of an immediate need).

I hope for a grocery to open that side of Willingdon too (like a nicer/cleaner/more spacious version of T&T, Lol!), most accessible from Skytrain station and bus stops. And it'll be walkable via the Willingdon Linear Park. Makes life easier getting things done right after one steps off the train or bus, before heading home (and vice versa). They can grab more foot traffic and market this way. Supermart and cinema primarily, then retail and food, and perhaps a gym?

If a Saks is opening in Brentwood, it'd be nicer if it were Saks itself or something else akin to it and not a sorry discount version. Lol. It'd be kinda disappointing if after all the hype, the place ends up with a discount retail store/department store at its opening of an anchor tenant.

I'm eager to know which other retailers/food places will open at Brentwood. Sporting Life seems like a very interesting store/concept. Can't wait for the new commercial portion to open. And curious as to what the south east portion will eventually be (in another 5-10 years maybe? another long wait... pfftt.). The first portion is taking long enough. Lol!

On a side note, Muji's expanding in Metrotown. That's kinda amazing. I hadn't thought they'd do very well so soon that they decided they need to expand. Lol. It's not really an average dollar store even. Burnaby's really growing... wow.
