Honestly.

But I also don't care that it was built.
It’s easy to say that, but if someone came up and offered you the property for free you be in there in two seconds.

Not being shackled by a large mortgage also means that if you hit hard times - lose a job etc, then downgrading to rent a more modest place isn't such a catastrophe as selling your huge house. How many people in Calgary do you think rinsed through all their savings to hang on a big house through this recession?
If you lose you job, and need to downsize you can still do so Play moving into a smaller place, and renting out your mortgaged place. The other downside is if you have a house it takes longer to get infected, if you’re renting you can be kicked to the curb rather easily. Fact can be kicked to the curb rather easily even if you don’t lose your job and are still paying your rent. Your whole life is based on the whim of your landlord.

Gee, what a surprise.

Why move there when you live in a better location, in a higher quality property with far and away more architectural value?

Agreed, I do hope to buy eventually, and have never said that buying is bad. I definitely don't want to be paying rent when I retire.

Sure, so I could sell it. I would just prefer to spend the same money on a different kind of place

I’ve read that the old YWCA building downtown has been sold. Does anyone know what, if any, plans have been made regarding redevelopment of the site?

Actually that's not entirely true. You can have a renter in your house, and if they play the system right, they can be there for several months, especially in BC.

I've heard horror stories where landlords have taken almost a year to get someone out of their property. Of course that's BC, which should stand for Burn Cannabis, seeing as 80% the people in the province are stoned and strung out.

Kind of funny (& sad) that this site now only covers constuction of single family homes (mansions). No offence to you Daemon as at least you are posting photos.
Littlechilds comes in with an excellent photo update complete with renders and gets chased away for asking about condos in the Beltline.

As big as the owner feels like making it, it’s his land.
