Crew of 3 on those aircraft ... which means 2 in the cockpit plus one FA.

Minimal galley space on those planes, so I’m pretty sure service is limited to beverage and a snack item on the longer flights. (On ultra short hops, like Lethbridge, it won’t even be that.)

I have been on Pacific Coastal a few times between Victoria and Prince George and they have always had a sweet and a salty option and a fruit juice box. Perhaps with the shorter flights water only makes sense.

Anybody here fly Frontier Airlines before? I'm going to be trying them for the first time next month. The flights times aren't great. I'm going to have to do a red eye flight but the price was almost $400 cheaper than my usual flight south. Just wondering what people's experience is with them.

Kind of what I figured. I'm taking the DEN/CLT flight. The cost of flights south really went up in the last 1.5 months. I was normally flying for on average about $540 but those same flights are +$850 right now. That is the only reason why I decided to try the Frontier flight.

Making my first foray into international travel soon, and I'm surprised how little there is available between regular economy and premium economy. Only 2 rows on an AC 789 plane available with extra leg room, and then it's time to more than double your ticket price if you want premium economy. Yikes. Guess I'll just have to deal with my knees touching the seat in front of me for 9.5 hours.

It is very hard to make money doing what WestJet Link is doing whether the planes are full or not.

I am not convinced the Westjet Link Saab aircraft operated by Pacific Coastal will have a material overall better OTP record than the Air Canada Express Beechcraft aircraft operated by Air Georgian. We shall see...

But is that something specific to the type of aircraft? Or is it because tiny aircraft with relatively few pax - regardless of the aircraft - are the first ones to get cancelled when an airline's operations get messed up for some reason?

Perhaps they can look at integra’s J31s. Should have a few lying around now that they’ve pulled out of YEG, YQL and YXH.

With WestJet’s latest route additions from YYC, they really seem to have gained a critical mass having almost all of Western Canada connected to YYC. Should be in a great position to fend off any of Flair’s ambitions. YYC being a larger market and better geographically located. Could be a fun game to watch.

This is the general philosophy behind any regional operation but I'm sure you're aware of this.
That is the philosophy, but the high costs still make it difficult to make money and WestJet isn't going to enjoy the pricing power that Air Canada once did in support of their regional network. I would be very surprised if any of the destinations within a reasonable driving distance of YYC survive.

Oops, thanks. I stand corrected! Most of them were taken already on AC's website so I was looking at Seatguru which shows 2 (Rows 18 and 31). Still surprising to me given the large number of economy seating rows.

That 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵. A great way to get extra segments and free parking in exchange for time.

There was a blue 747 parked on the western edge of the airport yesterday (might still be there - I do not know). I drove by too fast to see the tail properly. Anyone know what that jumbo was here for?

I was through there yesterday (windy as anything by the way!) and it was definitely a Korean Air 747.

I bet Westjet Link will take over the Red Deer route, it makes sense especially now, I agree with the other posts, I think Link will succeed in killing these local AC routes. I am also surprised how frankly they talk about how it was underperforming. Usually officials like to make things as sugar-coated and politically correct as possible like "We appreciate the community's support, but at this time the route and aircraft are not correct". In this case they flat out said it was due to demand. Same thing that BA said when they pulled LHR
