I get the general idea of the Falcon Towers and really like the location of them. But the renderings look preliminary as hell. Hopefully they come out with some detailed renders soon, especially seeing how far along this project is starting to come to fruition.

They may still be under contract with the contractor providing them those punched windows...

I don't understand the enthusiasm with these two towers. The same developer is responsible for the archaic Fox towers and these renders look like slightly better Foxes. It's criminal to construct a tower with punched windows. I don't even understand what went through people's heads when they purchased units in Fox!

Most residential towers in the world have punched windows.

The Falcon towers are heads and tails above the Icons and Fox.

The Falcons are imo very attractive.

Location, price and from the inside you have large windows.

The world includes a lot of 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 places. Be specific. Vancouver stopped building this garbage in the 90s. Not saying they don't exist, but from the mid-90's onward 99% seems to be glass. And yes, it gets boring, but Edmonton has to build 100 of them before we can talk about glass towers becoming boring. Right now there is Ultima, the Pearl, the ID and.... and that's it lol

My main gripe is the money being charged. If a person can get amazing views in a floor to ceiling unit in the Pearl, why on earth would he/she pay relatively the same price in the Fox? Location is the only thing, but the Pearl is a stone's throw away. Watch Fox units sit for eons in the resale market. Even at discounted prices they won't shift when people can buy at Ultima or the Pearl or even something in the ID.

^^was literally about to list the exact same three. Resale and rent prices at Fox are now a little ridiculous IMO, but thus is the market.

Original purchase prices were quite low, and honestly the build quality is pretty good. Langham definitely executed on lessons learned from the Icons. The two main drawbacks the makes me think I'd never consider Fox at their current prices to purchase is baseboard heating and zero amenities.

Those punched windows in Fox are actually huge from the inside.

Honestly, glass is not everything. There are always problems with glass. Ultima glass will have major problems in the near future IMO. The base boards actually get real cold in the winter. If your house is a little humid, you will actually get ice build up, which is probably worrisome for mold I assume. In one unit I was in, when the outside wind catches a certain (rare) direction, there is a draft seeping between the wall and window.

PS. I'd take a quality build and a nice interior design and layout over massive window walls any day.

Temperate climates are good for curtain wall, -40 to +35C no so much....

Anyone here see Trevor Noah at the Jube a week ago? He spent a few minutes making fun of Vancouver for having all that glass on residential condos. It was actually quite funny.

lol what did he say? I grew up in Vancouver and glass towers were so normal to me that I didn't think you could build modern towers without curtain glass walls. My Vancouver condo was built in 1996 (before rain screens became mandatory) and I was always battling some sort of a leak. Still, I will never forget those views. That's why I have such a constant hard-on for curtain glass. I'm always trying to duplicate that setting. In the mornings, before my eyes really opened up, it felt like I was sleeping in the air with birds flying beside me haha.

So far my favorite Edmonton tower is the Pearl. If I ever own anything in Edmonton it will be at the Pearl. There is a unit on sale right now with two balconies! One is facing the river and the other one north I think. In this market you could probably knock off 30-40k from the asking price. Too bad I'll be going to school for the next 3 years
