According to local marketing sources, the Sugar Wharf towers will have a PATH connection. I have no clue from which building they're getting this connection.....I'm unfamiliar with the new sections of the PATH past the railways.

It's In the planning docs from a year or two ago. IIRC, the planning department pushed it as the sidewalk capacities aren't sufficient within this development. It connects to One Yonge.

Only nine floors to kick it off? That's practically on spec. I always question what deals they have going on behind the scenes ala 16 York but I'd be a little concerned with moving ahead so aggressively if I'd been actively marketing the building for over two years and the only ~180,000 SF tenant I could secure was the parent company.

Edit: Looks like 260,000 SF, so about 20% of the GLA

Leaves me pondering.

Why bring the Teachers into a CF property now and also to kick start construction? My only conclusion is the pension funds are getting a little more daring.

Ya I'm wondering if CF doesn't want to get left behind if Oxford does move ahead with The Hub soon. They're targeting a completion date around the same time as the second CIBC Square Tower. Although, if they're going to compete with Ivanhoe they better have a more direct PATH connection than just attaching it Simcoe Place.

Oxford is like an old teammate. I would side with increased competition through growth from outside of Bay Street. The Teachers rent will easily double in a few years.

Caltrane put it best though. It's another tower.

I can't speak to the decision, but I can say the lot is cleared and there are pile drivers on site.

Taken by me a few moments ago. The giant pit is for the LCBO Tower and the area to the left of it is the condo site.

I'm very much glad to hear of news for 160 Front ....the Gumby tower has been a keen point of interest for me because of it's location, and for it's design (not so much anymore, as it shrunk a bit)

The amount of 150, heck 200 m + towers going up in Toronto soon and now is quite impressive.

I think the record is 11 towers over 200 meters under construction one time in Toronto.

Right now we are at 10.

Still good.

Plus we have 3 super big boys getting closer to construction... every day.
