A matching awning is going above the former entrance to Ivory Restaurant on Main – looks like someone's guess that ACU will probably expand into that space might be true...

**Side note – can an admin make a Downtown Developments thread?

^ As a concept, it's great. It would be perfect for that corner. If it were built with finishes exactly as shown it would be a bit disappointing, but I'd still take it. We've definitely seen worse across Canada so far this decade.

But yeah, I've never heard of any actual such proposal. It does look almost like that guy posted a student portfolio online or something like that.

came across this disaster today... 129 Mcdermot

I guess the parkade across the street set a precedent.. ground floor of this building is also going to be completely devoted to parking. that entire stretch of Mcdermot is basically going to be parking garages all along.. quite the score for the neighbourhood. 3 parking garages within 1/2 block of one corner.

Tell me this isn't for real?!? I just walked through that lot yesterday cursing at what it is and dreaming of what it could become - this was not my vision!

I can't imagine the city approving this at all. Even though they still make questionable decisions all the time, I just cannot imagine them being this dumb – or at the very least if they say yes at first, there'd be huge backlash they'd cave to.

I know one of the listing agents, so I won't do it, but someone should call this out to the city on twitter now – get ahead of it lol.

^ I didn't think the building was really thaaaat bad until headhorse mentioned the parking at grade. Nuts to that.

Is that for real? Who's the developer?

Also, why wouldn't the building go right up to Ship Street? I hate these undevelopable little wedges of land being left behind, sort of like with that apartment building planned for Stradbrook near the RT station.
