The brick fronting Broadway is pretty awful, looks like oakridge.

Gah!!! By the photos alone, that's unfortunate. The grey and white bricks look okay atleast....although the jumbled arrangement of them is a really weird decision by the architect. The red brick looks good in some sections, but it looks horrible or suburban in others.

I do like the tower's jagged design. Sometimes there are some bad executions of the jagged face for a tower....but this building definitely has a strong identity with it's form. I wish the panelling on the tower was a single colour of brick.....sometimes the panels look okay (the rusty coloured ones), but others look weird because of the colour choice.

This project has so many elements to it.....good grief.

Surprised at the opprobrium here. As much as I love minimalist modernism, it would be quite dull if every building in the city followed that aesthetic. Awesome to see a developer willing to shell-out for a strong example of eclecticism.

I will take what I can get when it comes to such features in Vancouver but why here? Why not above the London Drugs sign on Granville or on the Nordstrom building at Granville and Robson????

Or why not outside of the new Casino downtown? Or at GM place like every other major stadium in Canada (all they have now are the red text signs that you see in front of suburban shopping centres).

Seriously Vancouver can be so random at times.

It's an "art" thing, it will be non-commercial, but yes is indeed strange that they allow it there

This thing is just as much of a goddamn eyesore as I thought it would be 5 years ago. It's an incoherent mess of spandrel panels in rust brown. What a shame.

I walked by it recently and seeing it in person I don't mind the brick on broadway. Having said that, looking at these pictures the whole building looks like a friggin mess. Granted, it's not finished yet and so that doesn't help with the cluttered look.

The community did not want it to go tall, so it crowds the site.
Mostly the overhang over the sidewalk on the Broadway frontage.

Yeah the street wall is really growing on me, I like the height right at the sidewalk on Broadway and Kingsway. All the brick randomness is growing on me too.

The yellow mullions and vents need to go though I'm sure they will fade out within a decade.

Not quite done yet. I was hesitant to post these pics as there doesn't seem to be any substantial difference for the longest time. Some of the trees on the roof look like they might be going brown.

Although I’m not a fan of hater posts, I have to say this has turned out to be one of the ugliest buildings constructed in Vancouver in a long time.
