Almost unrecognizable. Jealous.

Maybe it's the concrete highway in the foreground, but Montreal looks really American from that angle. PoMo corporate towers, prewar skyscrapers and a giant ass steel bridge.

The MTL skyline from the west is very Canadian, though. 60s apartment towers and glass condos.

I think that Montreal has the most american-looking skyline of the big 3. It may change if new condo towers appear east of Place-Ville-Marie.

Montreal does have an American aspect. I was recently re-watching the intro to the Sopranos, which I believe is a drive from the Lincoln Tunnel through Jersey City and Newark into the Newark exurbs, and I got a little homesick.

East Village is really looking good! When will the office market pick up in Calgary?

Those aren't Americans qualities they simply have to do with the era in which a lot of Montreal was built. It's similar to how people view 1930s skyscrapers as very NYC when all skyscrapers from that era were built like that.

I can't imagine anytime soon. Office vacancies downtown still hover around 27%. We might not see another big office tower in the next five years, if not ten.

Instead of worrying about that market, I would use the opportunity to bring a better balance of residential and other uses to downtown.
