If its Rakowski Demo it may be an implosion as I believe they were the ones who imploded the Winnipeg Arena and the Canada Packers Plant

Rest of the cornice looks like it's going up on Fortune Block today, and they have a new crane in on the other side loading up what looks like extra support beams onto the roof today.

What is the intended purpose of the refinished buildings. Office or condos? Cause they want 'culture not condos'.

From the drawing, it looks like they might do something to fix up the entrance where High and Lonesome is, otherwise it won't fit in too well to the renovated structure.

Wondering if there's any appetite to create a "Winnipeg | Downtown - SHED" thread to discuss general news, goings-on, and developments downtown? We have several neighbourhood threads, but not one for downtown proper, and we should really be leaving this to downtown construction.

Appears like another unit in the Dreman building has been leased. It looks like there's 4 units, 3 of which are now taken: dentist, dispensary, and something else now.

Yeah, the upper floors were converted to condos. No units on the market, so I am assuming they are all occupied.

I think that would be great, since this general construction thread, the TNS thread, and other threads at random times, end up hosting discussion of the current state and future of this part of downtown generally (ie, Portage Avenue, and the vast underbuilt area of downtown to the south of it). There is, of course, development/construction stuff going on here besides TNS, and of course this area has about a billion issues that generate a lot of discussion.

I think with new signage going up it'll make a big difference, it's not too bad during the day (see link). Would be cool to have some sort of art go up on the right "tower" part – it's just a concrete wall. Definitely could could look stunning at night with some creative lighting to show off all its lines and design features.

The entire building is parking except the main floor and the vertical "tower" part on the left. Each condo unit (left side) is an entire floor, so there's only 5. Remember seeing a pics of one of them a while back and it was beautiful. I think they were in the $500-750k range IIRC. There's ppl willing to pay nearly $1m to live on Portage – incredible.

The Sterling building is filling in the cut out in the building you can see here here with an emergency staircase – will be interesting to see how they finish it on the outside.

The owners painted part of it black not too long ago. I think it would pop if painted a burnt orange color. The parkade portion, well, that needs a lot more than paint IMO.
