Former Delta Montreal (now student residences?). Not quite the same. Not round, so I highly doubt it ever revolved.

I guess closest thing in Edmonton might be Château Lacombe and Calgary, well Calgary tower.

Never knew about the Winnipeg building.
The one in Montreal most definitely revolved. I ate there 4 times during the nineties. The view was better than the food, but the firm was picking up the tab

The interior was round, with sections that were not flush filled with plants and shit. picture a circle inside an octogon. The circle part rotated...well the outer 30 feet or so, whereas the inner 20 feet from the centre did not (elevators, kitchens, washrooms)

The one in Montreal still revolves, it's a portugese restaurant now. Went there about a month ago.

It's not clear to me why someone would expect both cities to have similar development. They seem pretty different.

The total growth in Halifax may be lower than in Winnipeg but it still grew by 6,700 people last year. If even half of those people moved into downtown apartments that would be enough to fill a lot of new construction (the bigger developments in Halifax are generally around 200-300 units). I would guess that if there's not much construction in downtown Winnipeg but the city is growing a lot then there must be a lot of suburban development.

Downtown living is popular in Halifax. The city has a bigger than normal urban core and a lot of amenities. It also has bad traffic and a lot of geographic constraints that make the inner city more desirable than the first outer ring of suburbs. It is a lot like Vancouver and a bunch of other coastal cities.

That's not Hamilton -- the Skyway Bridge should be visible at front, the stacks and buildings are different, and the line of the escarpment differs (there should be some buildings visible along it, even from that distance).

Looks more like the Suncor petrochemical complex at the foot of Southdown Rd. in Mississauga.

Traffic in Winnipeg is horrible, a great incentive to live closer to downtown. There are more visionaries in Halifax. The potential in Winnipeg is great, but still beyond reach after so many decades.

It's the winter that doesn't end. We got more snow last weekend. Warmer today and yesterday at least.

Nice find Boris!
