What’s the latest word on the next two buildings (Sutton Hotel & the 4th tower)? are they still assumed to be a go following this, or somewhat up in the air?

I guess it's like when you look at the manufacturer's photos of a Nissan Versa speeding through the desert. The speed lines, the glamourous angles make it seem like something amazing, but then you show up at the dealer... and it's a Nissan Versa.

Some of these renderings conveyed the impression of spaciousness beyond what actually exists. But that said, I'm fine with the end product.

True North Square Plaza! LOL! Looks anything but, more like True North Square Laneway, hard to believe they were able to bilk the city in throwing them $9M or whatever it as for a public plaza when it’s a glorified breezeway, the city should take back the taxpayer contribution on the failed and misleading attempt!

Esquire that first rendering is the initial ones, not the finalized design renderings. The second one to me looks exactly as it is now.

It's hard to tell from the image but the sky walk looks really narrow. I hope it gets much wider

I'm noticing the height of the residential tower doesn't match the renders. The slanty portion on the south side starts further down the tower than the renders. There was talk in here it was shortened to 24 storeys plus mechanical. Seems to be the case from what we're seeing on site.

1500 people max watching playoffs on that TV, you think? If Old Market Square does the same and the Forks then crowds will be dispersed everywhere.

Looks can be deceiving. It seems small but I'm guessing you could fit well north of 1500 in the square. Especially for those deep playoff games when there's bound to be people cramming in. It'll house far more than you'd expect. But it's relatively small size will also allow it to feel fuller with fewer people, same with its narrow profile. This will enhance the atmosphere. Just wait and see. It'll feel a lot nicer when you actually get to ground level when it opens.

^ Plus when the fireworks shatter all that glass overhead, the square will clear out nicely.

FWIW Maple Leaf Square holds 5,000 people, and it really doesn't look much bigger. When Tower 3 & 4 are done, they could easily close off Carlton and use the street as well. I'm surprised they only are putting up the one video screen though TBH, and I guess can just rent extras.

Perhaps I'm a hopeless fuddy duddy, but why would anyone opt to watch a game on TV in a concrete courtyard instead of the comfort of their own living room? Or at the very least, a well stocked pub?

i'd pocket a couple beers and go watch a period or 2 if the weather was above zero lol

plus there's always the classic tv shot of other teams fans who show support in their perspective meeting spots

Imagine if, gasp, the Jets won the cup. Being there with thousands of people, having the crowd spill out of MTS after the cup prenseantation. Dare to dream.

^ Will that plaza be licensed? The WPS is not particularly keen on public drinking and TBH I doubt TNS management will be all that keen on the idea either. Would YOU want a thousand or more strangers drinking beer in your backyard?

I'm just picturing a bunch of hockey fans with backpacks full of beer. I don't think the square is licensed beyond whatever patios there may be for restaurants. But it's a 'public square' I thought. I know, I know. Not technically. And it would sure be interesting if there were 1000's of people in my yard drinking!

And yes the fountains activating, showering fans in champagne and left over beer!

I can't watch a Jets game without a 12-pack of Lucky at the ready!
