Hopefully they’re going to the The Earth is Flat convention in Edmonton and fall off the edge.

Are Bigtime, Josh, Boris and Calgarian there now? I’m sadly considering joining as well. I’m not a fan of how every project has a different thread though.

I'm not a fan of its layout, but the content is there. I don't know for certain whose there, but sadly, I know they're not here.
The other Calgary thread I read a lot, and very occasionally participate in, is the Calgary International Airport.

Unlike some Calgary posters, who warn locals not to visit the Canada forum, I visit it many times daily and occasionally participate. I'm more of a lurker than an active participant. There is no reason not to actively visit SSP and SRC often.

The Canada section is the only thing that still keeps me here.

I'm 95% at SRC these days, but I come here for the Airport thread. I doubt there's any forum anywhere that knows so much about airport gates lol.

And no wonder! Between you and Molson Export in the ugly Canada thread. What a team! Some don't understand that pointing to architectural abominations is only a small part of the threads import. The real purpose of the thread, IMO, is bowel explosion. A place many need to visit for relief. Thus, it's an very important thread.

An aside, long ago, I became a fan of Molson because of his walled city of Kowloon thread.

Couldn't agree more! Also don't forget Chadillac and Rosterferian(sp) who were awesome contributors to our forum. Forum starting to look like a warzone!!! A little respect for other individuals' opinions please. You can disagree but trashing them is unacceptable!!!!

Hahahaha! Mind if I repost this in the Ugly Canada thread? That is the best description I’ve ever heard for it.

I sometimes mixed him up with Rusty Van Reddick. But I sure learned a lot about coffee from Rusty. He was an expert...er...I mean...mouthpiece for the coffee industry.

Sadly Chadillac is over at SRC too. IIRC he was one of the first people to bail. I don’t miss Ramsayfarian.

Oh, this quote from him, much like Trumps expertise.

You are a cowardly troll. You've never even given any evidence of any qualification for any of your omniscience on this site and you are not qualified to sniff Chad's jockstrap.
</end snip>

He sniffs a lot of coffee and maybe other things as well. But, when it comes to coffee he's not the flâneur he pretends to be.

I remember that post lol. Not sure Chadillac is the most valuable member ever on SSP, but hey to a gay man like Rusty.....lol

Also it was very true of the way the Canada section was at that time. I know it’s gotten better but at the time it was very toxic and caused some of the valued members to leave. Surrealplaces said he left because of the people in the Canada section.

IMO, the loss of Surrealplaces, Chadillac, Bigtime and Josh killed things. It was never the same after that, and has only gotten worse.

Firstly, Chad made major and I mean major contributions to the construction thread.
His Achilles heel in the Canada thread was unbridled homerism which in turn became toxic. It poisoned Calgarys presence on the Canada forum. Most posters from Calgary today, participate in the Canada thread with humour. We have to deal with historical consequences. Okotoks has become a meme. So go with it and play with it. My opinion, but if others who have left, have nuance to contribute, that I have missed, please post.

Not sure what point you're trying to make digging up a post from over a year ago. He's not wrong. Whippersnapper was an obnoxious know-it-all and still continues to be at SRC. Way worse has been said here a hundred times over since.

Chadilac and Surrealplaces didn’t contribute anything other than piles of photographs. For those who like the photos, yeah I guess it would be a loss, but I’m not losing sleep over it. Josh had inside info being tied to the mayor, but IMO his love affair with Druh and Nendhi tainted everything he posted anyway. As for Bigtime, still trying to figure out what his contribution was.

The point is don’t cry over spilled milk, those guys are gone, and they don’t comin back. Move on.

Exactly. Wasn’t O-tacular suspended recently? As far as I know whippersnapper has never been suspended.

He hasn't been suspended because he's careful with his words, outside of that he annoys everyone to no end. In all my years at SSP I can't recall him ever making an original post about anything, only responses to someone else's post, and every single time, in disagreement or something negative.

You've got a short memory, or rose coloured glasses. Chad didn't help his situation or Calgary's rep, but Calgary was always poisoned in the Canada section, why and how it all started is before my time, but I joined before you and I remember debates with people like Boris, Riise and Surrealplaces defending Calgary in the Canada section before you joined.

Things aren't as bad for the Calgary folks in that section these days, only because Calgary is in a downturn. when things pick up and you guys start posting too many positive things about Calgary, the knives would be back out soon enough. Don't kid yourself, the people there haven't changed.

The fundamental problem with the Canada section is it's only about 3 dozen regulars (3 or 4 people from each region or major city), who are are there all the time, and they all love what they love.
They make darn sure nobody says something inaccurate or posts something that makes their city look better than the others. The whole section is nothing more than a thinly veiled "hooray for my city and my culture" discussion. It's never going to amount to anything more than that.

Yes, his title said suspended and it was a different colour.
